1. Cult of Luna - The Raging River.  Another banging effort to add to their near-flawless discography.

2. Weezer - OK Human. Comfortably better than their many misfires over the last 15 years. Luscious strings complement glorious melodies.

3. Steven Wilson - The Future Bites. A couple of significant high points (Personal Shopper featuring Elton John) but padded out with filler. There's just not enough going on here.

4. Asphyx - Necroceros. Plenty of oomph from these veterans.

Mogwai - As The Love Continues slots in at number 2. This one is clicking with me almost immediately. A great effort from the lads.

Cannot wait for the new Hold Steady on Friday as well. The singles have been great.

It's an absolute masterpiece of a thing. Right up there with their glorious output from 2005-2008. Just a completely cohesive record. Franz Nicolai being in the band makes such a huge difference

5. Maximo Park - Nature Always Wins

New effort from Godspeed You Black Emperor due next month that will dislodge some of the above.

Grammy for best rock album goes to The Strokes for TNA.

I mean, it’s the Grammy’s, but still nice to see them getting recognition.

Ignore this, wrong thread and the app won’t let me delete. [emoji36]

Nah, you're fine. We can talk about the Grammys here. Megan Thee Stallion, what the f**k is going on there?  I see she beat Doja Cat to the best porn act. Grammys and The Brits seem to be fighting it out to see whose finger is furthest from the pulse. Pleased for The Strokes. I wasn't a fan of that album and thought Fontaines DC should have edged them out with their admittedly rather meh second album, but they've paid their dues and all that.

The new Clap Your Hands Say Yeah record is fantastic. Where They Perform Miracles is one of the best songs I've heard in ages. Psychedelic Porn Crumpets' (terrible name, great band) new one is excellent as well.

Judging by their live show broadcast on Saturday night, the new Mogwai is going to be very good. Cannot wait for the new Hold Steady on Friday as well. The singles have been great.

I’ve posted this before, but their second (?) album was so oddly produced I genuinely thought my headphones were broken.  I have no idea what artistic point they were trying to make with that, other than getting their fans to needlessly spend cash on new headphones.

Black Midi are back! The new album "Cavalcade" is released on May 28th. If you didn't like them before, you sure as f**k aren't going to like them now. After my first go on this video, my first thought was wtf just happened to my eyes and ears. After the fourth go, I was left wondering what the second best single of 2021 would sound like.
