Jimi Shandrix
New 12" by Animal Collective out on 29th January. "Bridge To Quiet" features 4 lengthy tracks and to my ears sounds like "Merriweather..." crossed with "Tangerine Reef".
Yoss
I'm hoping some of those that have been quiet during 2020 have been using the disrupted time to work on new material and we'll have a bumper year ahead. All I've listened to so far is the LICE album that came out last week. Which was okay. But this week there's a new Pom Poko album, which I'm looking forward to probably more than anything that came out all last year.

Jimi Shandrix
Really good new 4 track 12" by White Flowers. Very Cocteau Twins. Don't sleep on it. Limited to 300.

MuckleMoo
Bicep released a new album yesterday, Isles. Similar to the first which is no bad thing. Loving it so far
mighty meadow
I've made a conscious decision to listen to more albums and EPs this year rather than listening to playlists, favourite trackes etc. January was a good start where after listening to no music at all on the first day the rest of the month totalled exactly 100 albums and 2 EPs listened to, mostly to and from work via Spotify but also a few physical releases in the house. So far for 2021 my favourites are : 01 PEARL CHARLES - MAGIC MIRROR 02 VIAGRA BOYS - WELFARE JAZZ 03 SHAME - DRUNK TANK PINK 04 POM POKO - CHEATER I'm thinking at the moment Pearl Charles is the only one with any chance of being in my top 10 at the end of the year. Pretty much a limited release but I managed to get a copy on nice, blue vinyl from Rough Trade. Viagra Boys also came from Rough Trade, this time on white vinyl.

George Parr
1. Cult of Luna - The Raging River. Another banging effort to add to their near-flawless discography. 2. Weezer - OK Human. Comfortably better than their many misfires over the last 15 years. Luscious strings complement glorious melodies. 3. Steven Wilson - The Future Bites. A couple of significant high points (Personal Shopper featuring Elton John) but padded out with filler. There's just not enough going on here. 4. Asphyx - Necroceros. Plenty of oomph from these veterans.
Jimi Shandrix
Enjoying this 5 track EP just released in this country from Aussie band Zipper. Only available on a cassette single. How quaint.

I far prefer their crunchier, rockier stuff, but OK Human is absolutely not a Black or a Pacific Daydream catastrophe.
Jimi Shandrix
There's a new album coming this year by the world's finest band Parquet Courts. Until it arrives, a new old song has dropped online from the sessions that gave us the "Sunbathing Animal" album. As usual, it's nothing less than brilliant.

Miguel Sanchez
The guitar in the new Mogwai song reminds me vaguely of that one tolerable if maudlin Mumm-Ra song from 2007 but is still good:

GrahamJags
The new Clap Your Hands Say Yeah record is fantastic. Where They Perform Miracles is one of the best songs I've heard in ages. Psychedelic Porn Crumpets' (terrible name, great band) new one is excellent as well. Judging by their live show broadcast on Saturday night, the new Mogwai is going to be very good. Cannot wait for the new Hold Steady on Friday as well. The singles have been great.
