Season a write off?

This amused me in today’s Sunday Mail. Was it not the clubs who demanded 22 games when the Board was saying that 18 was enough given how little time was left in the season?

Davie Irons is gonna be even more peeved when be notices who Stranraer were due to play on the Cup 4th round weekend! Looks Stranraer v Stenny will have to be shifted to a Thursday

It's precisely *because* the game is behind closed doors that it's having to kick off at 7pm - that means it's being broadcast live, whereas if attendance was allowed then it would presumably not be. I think lower league football would actually be allowed to be shown in normal circumstances, but presumably the SFA have agreed a blanket 7pm time with UEFA for all games so that there are no broadcast blackouts for any competitions.

Ironic that a live stream  with a few hundred tuning in would have such an effect on world football . But there you have football regulations summed up in a nutshell.

Heavy vibes that the Scottish Cup games on Saturday will get hooked due to a clash with the royal funeral.  Presumably the league games would follow suit, so potentially the end of the road for the split?

Is there room to squeeze another set of games in ahead of the deadline?

Should probably just null and void it now and cancel any play-offs.

Thursday 22nd.  Deadline is 23rd from what I’ve read.

Why?

Because there's a big royal funeral happening and lots of major and minor sporting events are moving to avoid clashing with it. The SPFL won't want to be the only ones who don't move, and trying to fit everything into midweek fixtures and still meet the deadline for the split would be much harder than shifting back 24 hours, or even just 2 hours as I've heard suggested.

If any player or fan wants to give the League 2 games a miss to watch the funeral, fill yet boots.   Spoiler alert - the auld guy's not going to suddenly open the coffin.  Set the Betamax and watch it later.

I can't see the world tut-tutting if we don't move.  Worse comes to the worst, move the games to 4pm.

We're already moving games so that Queen's Park v Cowdenbeath on a Tuesday night doesn't detract from the tune-in lure of Man City v Dortmund and Real v Liverpool; enough's enough.

Presumably you've forgotten the faux outrage that was generated in the media when it was suggested that a Scotland game & other matches would go ahead on the same day as Diana's funeral? In the end all football matches in the UK that day were postponed - our own game against Arbroath was moved to the following Tuesday.

If it comes to that again, move the games to Sunday and put the following Tuesday's games back 24 hours as well, then we still meet the 23rd April deadline for the 18 game threshold.

SPFL have said Saturday's games to kick off at 12.00 noon.

SFA are in dialogue before deciding, perhaps desperately trying to get the funeral changed to accommodate Rangers-Celtic cup tie.

Oh dear what a pickle. How will the SFA prove their staunchness? Rangers funeral Rangers - a rock and a hard place.😁

I didn't say it was what I wanted, but is what I expected.

Another thing that's a joke is the SPFL insisting that clubs have up to 3x minute's silences for the same person in a little over a week.

What is  a joke is players taking the knee and giving fascist salutes at every match. Whatever happened to the periodic showing of a Red Card against Racism ?
