Cancel the season?

Recommended Posts

Think quite a few leagues down south, probably step 5 downwards , will decide to call a halt to the season - clubs have played so few games by now. No complaints over extending the season into June if needed, may need next season to be delayed ,not a big deal really. Hopefully by March we can see the proverbial light in the tunnel and decide whether to restart or finish.

Basically walked away from a club after years of building them up to be a smashing team to then leave and get 8 friendlies in at St Cadocs before the season has now ended. You wonder if there’s any regrets there

Depends how you look at it wi southy. You could be diplomatic and say the guy was desperate to stay involved with football during the pandemic or you could be cynical and say he went to st cadocs to keep a wage going into his pocket every week .

Maybe Talbot done the right thing in not competing this season, seems like a sensible decision now.

Sorry, is that the same Talbot who still wanted to play in last year’s Junior cup semi?

This suits the clubs,  very few games would be played anyway in january .  The season will be resumed soon and the season will concluded no matter what it takes even if it means clubs who shat the bed have to play friendlies amongst themselves towards end of year.

Vast majority of fans enjoying the football in some form won't have long before we get back into it again.

Ok, I’ll take your pedantry on board, and revise my original statement.

Is this the same Talbot who still want to compete in last season’s Junior Cup Q/F.

Talbot aren't in the semi-final..

No of course they aren’t as they got their quarter final with Hurlford postponed on player health grounds back in early March but that doesn’t change the fact that after deciding to withdraw from this seasons league citing players welfare as one of reasons they then decide that some players can go and play elsewhere on loan if the club they were going to suited Talbot only then to state that they would be happy to participate in playing out the 2019/2020 Scottish Junior Cup.
A tad hypocritical to say the least although not alone as Pollok were going to do the same thing.

Seasons over.. Anybody that thinks its going to restart is deluded.

I would hope they'll see common sense that if the suspension continues after the end of January, the IMG will put it to a vote of the playing clubs the option of ending the season. Because at that point it will be obvious this will be a season without fans. Clubs voted to continue thinking (hoping) that fans could attend after a few weeks. Not going to happen this season. Probably not even the start of next season.

M8 like big Dougie you look like your new to the forum, so here it is in a nutshell. We are Talbot, we are non-league football. We do what we want and nobody has the brains and the balls to stop us. We are underhand, we cheat, we bribe referee's and league committee's. We have won 13 Scottish cups by diving and mobbing referee's. We are thugs, hatchetmen and gangsters. Now that should fuel you up to have a go like the umpteen other Talbot hating posters that hang around this forum. Batter in because we don't give a right royal f**k.

I’m sorry old chap, you mistake me for someone who gives a flying phuck. I was merely pointing out the hypocrisy in some recent posts.

The season got delayed because it was guaranteed fans wouldn't be there and the unknown of when they may return.

It kicked off as a slight majority voted for it knowing fans were an uncertainty. This happening at time when the tier system was being introduced and most of the West was going to be in the higher restrictions.

Then there was the option to withdraw in to the middle of November when the West was heading from Tier 3 to 4.

Don't think anyone that got this far were planning for fans. It wouldn't surprise me if things open up again they try to do something to complete the season.

Only pointing out the facts M8 but keep up your righteous beliefs about your beloved club.
Don’t remember yous winning a lot under Minford,Gray or Rambo so just pray Tucker has the appetite to go a few more seasons as he is more responsible for the success than anyone else at the club just as Knox was previously.

Great M8 batter in, your only raking up shite that's constantly posted on here. Heard it all before yawn yawn. You and big Doug's are some combo, a thread about closing down the season and you turn it into the usual Talbot shitfest. FFS give us all a break.

Put it to the vote of playing clubs? The whole point in stopping it is that there is a national lockdown and travelling about on a Saturday is a folly.

It's not a matter of "do you want to play or not?" There was never going to be fans this season.

You failed in that case. Talbot, like some other big clubs, took the decision not to play as it was obvious the season would be a bum steer, despite the IMG's kidding on everything was ok.
