Ayr defeat to Morton

Recommended Posts

Pretty positive we will shitfest this and play long balls because the pitch is bad or something. Negating the abilities of basically all of our good players.

Moffat or Anderson need to play IMO as the guys behind need a focal point to do their best work.

Not certain Walsh will be in the startng eleven yet - just a feeling that MK might just be easing him back bit by bit hoping to avoid a recurrence which would likely end his season (and time at Ayr 🙁). Would love to be proved wrong.

Somerset Sloth needs a pal in the flat, he's been hanging about with that Hearts dinosaur and it's a bad influence.

I like the team too tbh. Kerr will make a difference if the legs are remotely still there.

Interesting if Roscoe out makes the difference I think it will.

I think Kerr being there will make the difference to the defence as well. Really happy with the lineup, lots of firepower on the bench, but hopefully we don’t need to be going there so early on in the second half needing a goal.

We really need a younger Kerr, I thought Chalmers would fulfil that role with how good he can be on the ball but he’s rarely done it!

big call by Kerr putting himself him, has not played in months can not be game fit, if it does not go well he will loose players belief in him

He has played 3 full games in last 2 weeks for a strong reserve side in friendlies , and stood out a mile , think he was giving some players plenty of chances to shine but his patience has worn thin

Pretty sure he's done a couple of 80 min in the last couple of weeks for the reserves. Big Mick said as much on Black & White telly.

ETA - What Robbo said.

Yeah says a lot about what he thinks of some of his players performances recently when he feels the need to come into the team to make a difference at the age of 38, hopefully give the others a kick up the arse!

Can't see us playing this as a friendly tonight, so might not be his gig.

Hope Cammy Smith gone as cold as the outside temperature.

Kerr starting himself is interesting.

I don't think we need 2 holding midfielders, particularly at home. Having 2 sitting along with a back 4 means 60% of your outfield players primary job is to stop the opposition. Forwards get isolated and the temptation is then hoofball.

Under McCall, we were at our best when the midfield 3 were fluid and rotated throughout the 90 minutes along with the front 3. Tonights team, for me, has the look and feel of the same kind of formation.

A midfield 3 of Murdoch, Kerr and Chalmers should hopefully be able to get a good grip of the game, control the tempo of it when we have the ball and be well positioned to get the ball back when we don't.

The 2 full backs also have a big role to play in providing width and support going forward to Smith, McCowan and Moffat who will hopefully be able to rotate their positions in a swashbuckling display under the lights.

Cmon Ayr.
