Annan v QP

Recommended Posts

Previous thread has disappeared into the ether. We have played well enough down there recently but have not come back with the points. We are a considerably different animal now and it appears Annan have not progressed much, if at all. It will be a stuffy game but I predict we shall prevail 2-0 with Slater in the team.  Hope Grant makes it. Does anyone know the extent of his injury?

Looking forward to getting back in to Galabank for the first time in what seems like years. Has been 10 months since our last home win so well over due.

Would have been good to get in to the club but can't have everything. Will settle for the points, pints can wait...

Prediction. Super Annan 2 QP 1

With the figures rising in Dumfries and Galloway, is this likely to be your first and last game of the season. Super jealous though, even if it's one game you get?

Hope you enjoy your day but you are not celebrating at the end. On a decent surface, I'm hoping Longridge and Slater start and they produce the goods.

Annan seem to be very hot and cold. Pumped at home by Edinburgh City, lost at home to Rovers. Conversely, went up to Cliftonhill and scored five and beat Hamilton comfortably. As with any game in the league, being a full-time side, we should win if we play to our potential. Feel we're going to cut loose and score an absolute barrel load one of these weeks. Dundonald Bluebell now look the obvious candidates for that one! As ever, the important thing is to get the result first and foremost. If we can put in a performance and get three points, even better.

It goes without saying that the defending absolutely must be better than the Edinburgh City game. The players were rightly praised for their excellent defensive performances before last week, but that really was not good enough and we have to meet the standards we've set ourselves in the previous league games. It's a simpler game than is often made out. Doing the basics competently will lead to us winning football matches on a regular basis with the quality in the squad.

Not the prettiest game you’ll ever watch but will take the 3 points any day. Must say the camera work was very frustrating for large parts of the game, could barely see what was actually going on at the far side of the pitch and the sudden change of camera angle for annan’s penalty meant you couldn’t actually see the penalty properly.

Defensively we looked a lot more assured and organised, albeit annan aren’t the same force as Edinburgh but there was definite improvements in that department. Really didn’t get going first half and it was only until Mchugh scored where we really started to control the game and dictate play. Delighted to see Slater back in the team, he really does make a difference to the midfield in a creative sense and it was nice to see him get beyond the strikers for the second goal. Here’s hoping he gets a good run of games under his belt without injury as he’s been extremely unlucky with them since he’s joined the club.

To come out of the first third of the season unbeaten, which includes 7 wins from 9 is fantastic and looking at the next few fixtures, they certainly look winnable with games against Brechin and Albion looming over the next few weeks

Another good win. Anyone looking at the scoreline will think it was a tight contest, but I thought we were comfortable. Won our battles, made sure they didn't really threaten our goal and were clinical following a couple of bits of quality. Aside from the penalty at the death, which Wullie will feel he should have saved, it was a textbook example of working hard and getting the job done. Five points clear at Christmas is a nice spot to be in, and hopefully we can keep going after the New Year.

It's been a shitter of a year and a strange one in a football context. One defeat in our nineteen league games is good shooting in any context and the players and staff deserve huge credit for the way they've gone about their business.

Can't add to this. Well said.

Comfortable win despite soft pen in added time [emoji122] upped our game 2nd half and Annan didn't really pose much threat other than from long throws
Back 4 solid throughout and Carroll and Slater excellent
Galt great off the bench and quality cross and finish from Baynam and Mchugh for the opener
First third of the league done [emoji736] and still unbeaten
Unprecedented times right enough!
Merry Xmas troops [emoji2764]

That was a worrying performance from Annan today. Didn't lay a glove on QP and were chasing shadows all day long.
I accept that Queens Park are the champions elect but they never needed to get out of first gear. Definitely have upgraded on the pitch.

Annan sadly lacking any threat up front and need a physical presence. Smith, Anderson and Wright simply does not work. If Flanagan is fit he will provide the width but need some body capable of getting on the end of a cross.

Tuesday nights game at Brechin(weather permitted) is one that we can't contemplate losing and getting dragged into the relegation quagmire.

Merry Effing Xmas indeed!!

That's Pixellot for you, zooms out when it should zoom in and vice versa. Loves following the keeper's white gloves and subs warming up behind the goal. Same thing happened at Elgin. "Better than nothing" is the defence but when folk are paying a tenner for the pleasure then better than nothing is the least that should be expected. Get it in the bin.

First half was a non event really but second half we were a different team. Same as last week but with the defence back to its best.

Thought Doyle and Galt were our two stand outs (closely followed by Carroll). Doyle never stopped all day up and down the right and Galt was back on form, that turn  and ball for the second was pretty sexy. Really don't understand how both were omitted from our motm twitter poll, especially as Galt came on as a sub first half. Baynham's ball and McHugh's finish for the first goal was superb but that was the first time they had linked up successfully all game imo. They always work hard tbf.
