Rangers in Price-Fixing Enquiry

Recommended Posts

The Competition and Markets Authority have announced they are investigating allegations of price-fixing of replica kit, involving Rangers, Hummel and JD Sports.

Manchester United were fined £1.6 million for a similar conspiracy in 2004. Umbro and JJB Sports were also fined.

United had been with Nike for 2 seasons in 2004, so another long running saga for the sons of william ?

All football kit are too expensive and seen by clubs and their business partners as fair income.

Not sure how this is a singular Rangers issue as I expect one club sets a price and by nod or a wink others follow.

A bit like the big 6 energy companies and now most of the broadband/TV suppliers.

They aren't being investigated for colluding with other clubs.

The suggestion is a pricing agreement involving the kit manufacturers (Hummel) and retailers (JD Sports, etc.).

Anyway, the other clubs can't set a price, except for whats sold in their own shops. They can't legally tell the local sports shop what to charge.
