Player who played for most top flight clubs

Recommended Posts

Rough research shows me Owen Coyle played for Airdrie, Dundee United, Motherwell and Dunfermline when they were in the top flight.

I think he was just too late to play for his first club, Dumbarton, when they were in the Premier Division in 1985.

Who is the current Premiership player who has played for the most top flight clubs?

Craig Samson? *shudders*

According to Wikipedia he's played in the top flight for four clubs - Killie, United, St Mirren and Motherwell - so he joins Stewart, Erwin, McGinn and Watt all mentioned up-thread.   Although Samson is probably just a mere coviding away from making it five.

Chic Charnley probably about 4 or 5 and all with a Selluck green and gray top under the shirt.

Played for 7 Scottish clubs (8 if you count Celtic in a testimonial) but only in the top flight for Hibs and Thistle I think.

You think wrong. Played for St. Mirren in the top division in 82-83 and 91-92.

Cheers. I'd thought St Mirren were in the First Division in 91-92, must've been the season after. Didn't realise he'd played in the Premier in 82-83.
