That Australian manager the weirdo Hearts fan was raving about is "close" to being announced, according to some Twitter journo.

You could say that's quite suspicious.

Howe deal collapses just after renewals come out and then a total random from the other side of the globe is very close to being appointed hours later.

Brendan Rodgers was a big time, big name manager when he was appointed Celtic boss. Significantly more so than David Wagner. Its fucking weird you are trying to argue otherwise.

Brendan Rodgers was a big name appointment, definitely.

It's only "fucking weird" because you deem everything you say to be correct.

You said he was a "big time" Manager. A manager who had won at that point in time, absolutely nothing.

That isn't "big time".

If this is true, it is a monumentally risky appointment.

Would be okay if they had a director of football to put the transfer strategy in place, which they dont. So appointing a guy with no experience of european football, id assume limited contacts in the game and a reputation that isnt going to get the fans on side, is frankly fucking batshit.

He needs to come in, rebuild the squad straight away and play a huge qualifier in less than 2 months time. Wild.

It's risky but it's better than Kennedy etc.

I've zero idea about him but all the geeky analysts, including those hired by clubs, reckon he's highly regarded in Asia and has his side playing the best football on the continent.

The boy has links to the City group, who Lawwell's son works for - folk on Twitter saying that's the link.

Makes perfect sense then.

However if we were going to go with a City Group appointment we may as well have rolled the dice on Maresca months ago

Fergal Harkin who is still rumoured to take over as DoF is also currently part of the city group so aye clear to see where this may be going

Not really. For clarity, Graeme Sounness spent about the same amount of time in charge of Liverpool. He won an FA cup.

Graeme Sounness wasn't a "big time" manager either.

Ange Postecoglou... Never played or managed in Europe. Would certainly be a bold appointment.

Managed in Greece for a year

I'm sure those 9 months in the Greek amateur 4th division will do him the world of good.

The 'no experience in Europe' chat about someone who has won the J-League, AFC Cup, and qualified and coached for a World Cup, or referring to such a coach as a 'random' is a close relative of English Premier League fan bois never watching Scottish football but then giving it the 'my nan' chat about the SPFL.

Ange's got a good record as a coach and probably has the right kind of personality to manage Celtic too.

He's got a better coaching profile than anybody working in Scotland at the moment. By a distance.

"I've never heard of this guy" does not equal "This guy is a nobody". There are plenty of coaches in Asia you've never heard of who wouldn't touch the Celtic job.

I think some people are vastly over-estimating Scotland's place in the world here.

The ignorance is astonishing. Especially from folk who complain about the same thing from other pundits.

It really is.

It's a symptom of media coverage to an extent. People never see Asian football so assume it's rubbish, yet The J-League is without question a stronger league than the Scottish Premiership.

Considering he'd be replacing Neil Lennon and going into a job for which Jack Ross has been touted as a serious candidate, Ange would be a big win for Celtic. I hope he doesn't take it.

Nobody would have criticised Rangers for hiring Derek McInnes a couple of years back. But he's not got anything like Ange's record. It's just ignorance dressed up as opinion.
