The guy who just presided over the worst Schalke team in living memory?

It'll surely be Kennedy, an up and comer or, more likely, an experienced manager with recent f**k ups on his CV that needs to rebuild their reputation.

David Wagner would be a pretty good appointment.

Whats your point?

Big difference in thinking a guy like Wagner will or could be in the running, to thinking he would be a good appointment.

Also argue that simply getting a team promoted from the massively overrated Championship is hardly an indication he is ready for a job like Celtic. Owen Coyle and Malky Mackay did the same after all.

Keane's ego is surely too big to accept he is clearly second choice.

No manager of any decebt calibre (Keane doesnt fall in to this category btw) will take the job knowing Howe was first choice for months.

I had money months ago on A. Villas Boas, so I'm sticking to my guns. (100% not happening since he seems to be a rally driver now!!).

Aitor Karanka fits that description. He's  been sacked by three championship clubs in four years.

ETA - for clarification, he's been terrible and therefore an ideal candidate to manage the green cheek.

See my response about Wagner.

Karanka isnt a big time manager. Promotion from the English Championship has been achieved by absolute diddies in the past.

What seperated Howe was the way he transformed Bournemouth from League Two to several years in the EPL, all while playing good football and developing players.

Just cause someone does well in the English second tier doesn't mean they should be a contender for the Celtic job and the pressures that come with it.

That Australian manager the weirdo Hearts fan was raving about is "close" to being announced, according to some Twitter journo.

Is "big time" absolutely 0 honours - bar the "overhyped championship"?

Id say 3 years at Liverpool and getting them as close to winning the EPL as they ever had at the time while playing some excellent attacking football and having the reputation as a fantastic coach who develops players would be classed as big time in scottish football sense, yes.

Youre not seriously comparing pre-Celtic Rodgers to Wagner, are you?

If this is true, it is a monumentally risky appointment.

Would be okay if they had a director of football to put the transfer strategy in place, which they dont. So appointing a guy with no experience of european football, id assume limited contacts in the game and a reputation that isnt going to get the fans on side, is frankly fucking batshit.

He needs to come in, rebuild the squad straight away and play a huge qualifier in less than 2 months time. Wild.

Where?

You said "big time". Then gave your example as a manager who had won.. Diddly squat.

Harry Kane has never won a trophy. So you wouldnt consider him a big time player?

Behave.

Brendan Rodgers was a big time, big name manager when he was appointed Celtic boss. Significantly more so than David Wagner. Its fucking weird you are trying to argue otherwise.
