The fact you can't see that your defensive record is down to your shape, and how well drilled everyone is, and not the individuals, is incredible. Helander/Goldson are decent, but Ajer is better than both. Balogun is the worst of the three and only useful because hes quick. I'm very well aware our defensive success comes down to our coaching and shape, if anything our defence is only so good because of our central midfielders that cover the full backs, the idea that we would swap out any of our defenders for Ajer at this time is ludicrous. He's better than what they have, and in a better team would show it. Rangers defenders have only looked better because they're in a better team, who work hard to make it easy for defenders, while Celtic are the complete opposite. Mcmanus and Caldwell were a very decent partnership for us under strachan for a while but were bog standard defenders really, we were just well drilled under him. Pretty sure Duffy was several places ahead of Goldson when at Brighton also. By the same respect you could put Goldson in our team and I doubt it would make a huge amount of difference if the coaching is shite.
