The fact you can't see that your defensive record is down to your shape, and how well drilled everyone is, and not the individuals, is incredible.

Helander/Goldson are decent, but Ajer is better than both. Balogun is the worst of the three and only useful because hes quick.

You could put Shane Duffy in your defence and he'd look competent because youre such a good team.

I'm very well aware our defensive success comes down to our coaching and shape, if anything our defence is only so good because of our central midfielders that cover the full backs, the idea that we would swap out any of our defenders for Ajer at this time is ludicrous. 

In some bizarre world where this happened he would have to earn his spot he certainly wouldn't walk into the team as he's not considerably better than our CBs at the moment.

Do you really not think players improve through training and playing together and getting to know each others strengths and weaknesses and building trust ?? Jesus wept.

Balogun is getting a bit of a raw deal here I think. Helander and Goldson are better but Balogun isn’t miles behind. Yeah he relies on his physical attributes more but he uses them well.

What?

I said Ajer is a better individual player than any Rangers CB, but Rangers defence is better than Celtics because they're better trained/whole team is better trained.

Both.

He's better than what they have, and in a better team would show it.

Rangers defenders have only looked better because they're in a better team, who work hard to make it easy for defenders, while Celtic are the complete opposite.

It's very simple, so I've no idea why your panties are in such a twist.

Agree with this. Mcmanus and Caldwell were a very decent partnership for us under strachan for a while but were bog standard defenders really, we were just well drilled under him. Pretty sure Duffy was several places ahead of Goldson when at Brighton also. By the same respect you could put Goldson in our team and I doubt it would make a huge amount  of difference if the coaching is shite.

Worth posting here too. Hopefully it's bullshit, Benitez would be an absolute gamechanger. 


I think that’s just based on odds, which mean nothing with stuff like this. They’re not even saying anything about sources in the article, only that they “understand”. He’s exactly what Celtic need though.
