Conquering Europe

We lost Coleman, which is a shame as he was my best player, but on the other hand he's unlikely to play for the next couple of months. As long as I win the leagye this season, it won't be much of a loss.

Incoming, we have Martin Dimitrov. A left winger on loan from Dunfermline, A good technical player, with a bit of pace, not the best mentality but he should do a good job in this league. I tried to get him at the start of the season but he wasn't old enough to come on loan to us. Already has a couple of goals too.

Spoiler

The other new boy, who hasn't played yet as I only brought him in to replace Coleman, is striker Mark McDougall. On loan from St Mirren, A good finisher, he's actually quite similar to Dimitrov as a player. Not as good as Coleman, but he's actually fit enough to play so that's something.

Four out of four in the league, including a 93rd minute winner with ten men against Dundalk. Glorious stuff. Particularly good given that my side was often fucked after playing in Europe for these games.

Shamrock weren't very good this month, so our lead is now six points.

Need to keep the form up.

Another solid enough month with seven points from nine in the league, and through in the main cup but we got absolutely horsed in the League Cup semi final. Three times we've played Shamrock, and we've been nowhere near their level.

8MXdLwE.png

But we're in control of the title race.

I have to play them twice still. Even if I lose both games, though, all I need to do is match their other results and I'll win the league.

September 2079

Will start with the signing news, as I brought in another striker to give me more options there in the form of Maltese international Clint Caruana. I tried to get him a while ago but he wasn't interested. Obviously being a free agent has lowered his standards a bit. Anyway, a good finisher, good touch, strong. I'd rather he was faster and worked harder, but as always there's reasons people end up in the Irish leagues.

The cup games went well, but we should have done better than that in the league. Shelbourne and Waterford in particular are games we should have been winning. McDougall had a good month though, and we've a decent shot at consecutive Irish cup wins, but the league is the main prize and that wasn't a helpful month.

DVJZt3q.png

We're still top though, with six games left, Two of them are against Shamrock though.

Will be an interesting run in.

Argentina

A couple of friendlies, including a frustrating loss at home to Cameroon. f**k it.

Competitive games next month.

EssX4fI.png

Our run of not winning in the league extends to five matches now, but thankfully Shelbourne have done us a favour and allowed us to go further clear of Shamrock at the top of the table.

Not beating the worst side in the league is unacceptable though.

Five points, five games. Up next: ninth placed Sligo Rovers.

A big set of results puts us very, very firmly in control of the title race. We were outstanding in the first half, and not brilliant in the second half but the job was done effectively enough to see us through to the win.

Four more games, and we're almost there.

Irish Cup Semi Final - 2079

SS1k9Gc.png

There will be no consecutive cup win for us, as the game was fucked after 4 minutes. It was probably a penalty kick, but the red card seemed to be harsh. After that, it would always be difficult but we never did nearly enough to win it. Oh well, I'll be concentrating on the league now.

Up next I have an international break to deal with.

Internationals - October 2079

KaU9Q5t.png

An ideal start to World Cup qualifying. I'm not planning on still being Argentina manager by the time of the next one, as hopefully I can win the Copa America and get out, but still good to win these.

Brazil are hosting next, so it should be straightforward enough stuff for us.

Spoiler

The wait goes on.

We played pretty well until we scored, but almost as soon as that went in we shat it. The winner was a penalty for a foul absolutely nowhere near the ball as well, total fucking stupidity from us.

Oh well.

Still in our hands.

Another game fucked by an early red card. Our record against Shamrock this season now reads P-6 W-1 L-5 GF-6 GA-14, and the game we won against them was a glorified friendly.

Thank f**k they've made an arse of it elsewhere.

One final chance here...

Nice and simple - Win or match their result and we're champions.

SCENES.

We were alarmingly close to fucking that right up, particularly with being behind at half time, albeit undeservedly. After the equaliser we missed a flurry of decent chances before Pejovic finally scored and then made it secure just before the end.

Absolutely delightful.

I'm hanging on for another month since we enter the "Champions Cup" with the Northern Irish champions as well, so might as well see if I can pick up another medal, but after that Ireland is done.

Next in line, and the first country I'm surprised to see as low as they are, is Poland.

Unite the Union Champions Cup - 2079

As I said, we're playing in the Unite the Union Champions Cup - so called because of sponsorship by the Trade Union rather than a pisstake by some mad loyalist, unfortunately. Anyway, we're playing Glentoran, who utterly fucking dominate Northern Irish football presently, and have done for the last 30 years. They also win this tournament quite a lot, so odds against us.

Anyway, here we go...

Spoiler

GTdavr1.png

Ah f**k.

Still the second leg to go, but they were a fair bit better than us. Still, their only goals came via penalties so we have a shot, but I'd be fairly surprised if we came back to win this in the second leg.

A nice debut red card from Henderson as well, some effort.

Spoiler

VvFoiIv.png

Well, I've signed off with a win but it wasn't enough to overturn the first leg.

Oh well, see ya later Ireland.

I'm off to Lithuania next, with Radviliskis. I've had a wee look, but can't work out what the SSPC stands for - if anyone can find out and let me know, that'd be swell.

Anyway, Radviliskis play in a northern Lithuanian town of the same name with about 16000 people. The wikipedia page for the town says the following:

Quote

"Radviliškis has been the administrative center of the district since 1950, and is an important railway junction"

"There were no citizens left in Radviliškis after the plague in 1708–1710"

"Radviliškis, settled on everglades, was famous for its railway and black-from-locomotive-smoke sparrows."

Sorry if there's any locals reading, but it sounds like an absolutely desolate shithole. Who knows though?

Anyway, the team are currently in the second tier, and have zero major honours to their name. Through the whole save, they've only spent two seasons as high as this level, so definitely not a sleeping giant or anything - more a set of absolute nobodies.

Let's see how it goes.

It think it's "švietimo ir sporto paslaugų centras" which translates to "education and sports services centre". True diddies.

SSPC Radvilskis - Meet the Team

Apparently 4 stars is a "decent player for most teams in my division" while 3 stars is a decent player for most in the division below...

y9HItP3.png

Well, we have a lot of players up front of roughly similar quality, but none of them are really up to it in this division. Needs work, but not my immediate priority for reasons which will become apparent.

BYq4nRA.png

Well, that's ok. Two good options here, will be Slivka that plays probably as Klevinskas is my main left midfielder.

GOKllQG.png

What the f**k is that central midfield?  I'm probably ok enough on right and left midfield, albeit lacking depth, but sorting out that nonsense in central midfield is the first thing I'll need to do here. Shambles.

yvH3Svq.png

Probably ok enough, in places. Could use work but it's probably the strongest area of my squad.

nUMqOOK.png

Poskus will do. f**k it
