On one hand things have got worse on the other it's got better with people being immunised.
We should stop for a month. The decision was 100%  correct to start and we will be able to continue at some point February.
In eosfl weve had 1 case from each team at musselburgh vs Blackburn with no evidence that it transferred on the pitch
People aren't being immunised Alan, they are being vaccinated, which won't stop you contracting it but will help you fight it.

Therefore you can still catch and transmit this virus and all but a very few players or coaching staff will not be due to receive the vaccine until the 9th tranche.... so not really applicable to the debate but in the meantime they could still contract covid and unintentionally infect others.

Try talking to this, you'll get more sense out of it._51779480_wallvt0825.jpg

Eyemouth v Lochore on 19/12/20 also had a positive test. So it hasn't just been one game in the EoSFL

ONS says 2% of the population of the UK had Covid last week. Loads of Premier league footballers have tested positive and games have had to be postponed. The idea that there hasn't been a lot more cases among non-league footballers than has been identified stretches the law of averages beyond breaking point.

Yep (and the ref)

Same as what happened in a few ammies games too although when first kicked off in August was only boys who travelled in car with positive test player. Once that started to happen on mass players weren’t as keen to play especially the self employed ones.

The difference being full time premier league players are together probably 35 hours over a 5 day week. Doing a lot of work on the gym. Eat lunch together. Eosfl players are together outside for 6 or 7hours a week. Also england has higher case rate per 100000 further increasing chances

By that token then Alan, premier players are mixing with potentially 35-40 people per week (give or take squad size numbers) whereas our level have the potential to mix with 35 (squad + coaches + committee) times by the number of people they work with plus family so conservative total being 150 per week.

Full time players are being tested weekly but our level don't, yet you say there is no bigger risk of eos teams contacting this virus?

Premier league players only tho.

Only 2 deaths under 44 in the UK from 'covid' I put ' around the because people can have covid and then die 28 days later in a car crash and thus they died from covid.

It has no grave danger to young people. Where is the flu?

And here is the problem!!!!

It has no grave danger to young people is not the problem!! It’s the spreading it that is the problem!!

people need to think about other  people rather  than just themselves!! That’s one of the reasons we’re back where we are!

imo eos should be shut down until feb as a minimum!! See how it’s looking after that!

The weather by default could see a shutdown for a few weeks anyway.

As you say the danger may not be directly to younger folk (players). People forget that most EoS clubs are run and managed by an older age group.

Then the impact that comes from players/officials having to self isolate and miss their own work.

The EoS have been quiet on the current situation with the pandemic.

The fact that NHS hospitals are stretched to breaking point is also a problem.  What if a player breaks his leg during a game or a committee member crashes their car on the way to a game - they're not going to check into their nearest BUPA or Spire are they?

Nairn v Broxburn for example: 2 West Lothian players overnight in a hospital in Inverness in December.   I just think it is wholly avoidable and unnecessary.

I agree - What harm would it do to stop for January and February until things ease up?

Probably fortunate that there's only been 13 games played involving EOS clubs, another 10 from the LL and 4 WOS games since 19th December (plus a few friendlies).

Correct, believe that the game should stop until February or March, get the vaccines out to the elderly folk - hopefully get the case numbers down AND an end to the daily 400+ deaths . Can people please behave, not have stupid anti lockdown marches etc, demanding their freedom (to die ? ) Clubs cannot survive without the older volunteers, let's look after them eh.

Pretty sure that the Govanhill Gretna are also now full time, but otherwise the article is spot on - and it should apply to the mixed full time/part time Championship as well. There's both no credible prospect of clubs keeping a secure bubble and no fundamental point to playing competitive football, right now, BCD for the foreseeable future.

Every league apart from the Premiership should be put on hold until spring and canned if it isn't feasible to catch up in the early summer.

...games off but presumably still training twice a week and on days where games are postponed - so the activity has continued right through regardless...

Other than changes effecting schools & churches i see little change from Midnight on Monday. Footy still on, building sites still open, golf courses still open, coffee shops still doing take-aways, you can sell your house, buy a house, go change your tires........all non-essential in my opinion, so no great surprise EOSFL still on.

This is a lockdown in name only.
