Given McInnes’s preference for UK/Irish players (or at least players who have proven experience in the UK leagues), it would seem slightly surprising for him to spend our biggest transfer fee in 25 years on a player who’d only ever played in Venezuela or Norway. I’m not at the “he’s only been signed so we can loan/sell him to Atlanta” stage, but I certainly think the motivation for signing Hernandez was driven by someone other than McInnes.
