Denmark 2nd choice even if they always beat us. 2. Romania - sneaked into pot 2 after Russia collapsed and a very average outfit. Would fancy us strongly against them at home. 3.Scotland 4. Luxembourg. Not complete mugs and have had some decent results lately but they're still a team we should beat home and away. 5. Andorra. By a mile the weakest team in pot 5 and given we almost routinely drop points to a pot 5 squad, the easiest game possible is good. 6. San Marino. Diddy cannon fodder and if travel is back on a great place to go. This would be a cracking group for us

Stellaboz
Our major problem is that we don't win all our games against lower seeded teams. We simply have to win all those games and at least 2nd seed at home to give ourselves a chance. No more 3-0 away defeats to shite like Kazahkstan, or pathetic 1-0's in Georgia. Fucking go there, take control and win those games. No bollocks excuses about travel, how there are no easy games or any other utter bullshit.

If anything i'd take harder (on paper) pot 1 and 2 sides in favour of getting the absolute dregs of 4, 5,and 6 which is almost always the bit that busts us.
Barry Ferguson's Hat
There are no easy games in international football. The lads should just go out there and enjoy the experience. Win, lose or draw we'll all be proud of them.

We kind of did that this week though We went there, we were better than them (both games) took control, never converted any of our chances We're getting better, much better But still serving up that pish in games we should have won

Wasn't exactly the case for the Euro 2020 group. We got absolutely shagged rotten off of Russia. We obviously got fucked rotten off the Kazakhs, but it didn't matter in the end due to those pumpings off Russia. I can't quite believe they are in Pot 3 along with us for this btw. I'd absolutely take Croatia in Pot 1 but knowing our luck we'll get Belgium again. Due to some right bizarre seedings ie fucking Andorra in Pot 5 and Luxembourg in Pot 4, there is the potential to have an incredibly routine group, Pot 4 and below that is. This is where we need to get maximum points, hope we get an absolutely shite Pot 2 team like Romania and whoever we get in Pot 1 just defend like f**k and shitfest a draw at Hampden. That's the only way we're going to finish second IMO. Edited November 22, 2020 by DAFC.

As host's don't play qualifiers they can only play low value friendlies which don't accumulate many points.

Not that I'm complaining, I'd hate Russia is our groupI think it might be (partially) fixed since the change post 2018 WC in how the rankings are calculated. Still think it's crazy Russia will be allowed to participate in qualifying and if they reach Qatar they can just compete as a neutral country. FIFA should be telling them to piss off.
HibeeJibee
I see these 2-stage playoffs will be heavily seeded: best 6 qualifying groups runners-up will be drawn against worst 4 + 2 entrants from Nations League, plus will play SF at home, with final hosts randomly drawn. Czech Republic and Hungary are 3rd seeds but have back-up of Nations League in their pocket. Were they to finish 2nd next up would be Slovenia and Montenegro, then Albania, assuming Wales and Austria hadn't slipped-up. I notice as well as usual Armenia/Azerbaijan, Bosnia-Herzegovina/Kosovo, Kosovo/Serbia and Russia/Ukraine (plus silly Gibraltar/Spain)... Kosovo/Russia cannot now be drawn together? Had they fallen-out recently? NL finalists France, Belgium, Italy, Spain must be in 5-team groups. Plus numerous weather/travel exceptions: Quote Winter venues: A maximum of two teams whose venues are identified as having high or medium risk of severe winter conditions can be placed in each group: Belarus, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Russia, Ukraine. The two "hard winter venues" (Faroe Islands and Iceland) generally cannot host games in March or November, and therefore cannot be drawn together; the others shall play as few home matches as possible in March and November. Excessive travel: A maximum of one pair of teams identified with excessive travel distance in relation to other countries can be placed in each group: Azerbaijan: with Iceland, Gibraltar, Portugal. Iceland: with Armenia, Cyprus, Georgia, Israel. Kazakhstan: with Andorra, England, Faroe Islands, France, Gibraltar, Iceland, Malta, Northern Ireland, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Scotland, Spain, Wales. Lurkst
Cuts down our chances of getting Kazakhstan again anyway. Surprised they've not taken steps to avoid Nations League group winners being drawn together in case one team benefits from throwing a game.
Spikethedee
Seedings are confirmed. I'd take Denmark, Romania, Luxembourg, Andorra & San Marino as first choice. Worst would be Belgium, Turkey, Bosnia & Kosovo Likely to get Germany, Serbia, Albania, Faroes
