Did you just skip over the videos above where he tells voters to their faces they're "full of shit"?

Building consensus really means 'compromising on his principles to get the agreement of the absolute scum on the other side of the aisle' or in Biden's case really means didn't have any in the first place.

I watched the one where he said the guy was full of shit, and...  Go figure, the guy was full of shit (IMHO).  Do I think that the hurt feelings of some gun-toting, rootin-tooton semi-automatic gun lover are more important than the issue of ready availability of AR14s and massive magazine rounds...  (I think you know the answer).

I'm also not sure what the point behind your videos were;

Here's are a couple of videos of him being incredibly empathetic;  Does it make him a saint?  Of course not.  We need to stop defining people as either good or bad.

Aye, my ex's brother worked in a call centre in Seattle and was pulling down 50k or something nuts, while staying with his mum. I think folk do end up with more disposable income just about, but the cost of living can be crazy. And then you look at rural areas, especially in the south, where earnings are miniscule. Mad place

Yeah you really can earn big bucks fast so disposable income is higher. But its such a consumer driven society it kind of has to be, you are assaulted by things demanding you spend money every minute of every day.

I was driving through Boston a couple of years ago, well I was the passenger, and it came on the radio an advert saying 'if you take home $350 dollars per week we guarantee you 30k of credit to buy a car regardless of your credit history' and I was like WTF?  If you take home $350 per week you can't afford 30k to spend on a car.  Its mental.

Surely any tears of joy are from people just delighted that Trump is gone, rather than anyone ridiculously happy that Biden is in.

It’s the same way that I’d be pleased if Johnson lost an election to Labour because he’d no longer be prime minister and his cabal of sociopaths wouldn’t be the government, rather than because Keith and his lot would be.

I wouldn’t want Russia to win the World Cup, but if they were playing England in the final I would be cheering them on.

Yeah but that's not how you say it is it, you speak respectfully and professionally and with dignity if you want to be considered a nice person.

I have seen these videos too and they are stage managed pish purely for the cameras. Judge a man by his actions and in 48 years in politics he has done f**k all for these people.  If the cameras weren't there he'd probably have walked right past.

Yea, I thought this as well but then Shaun (the YouTube guy) summarised it as “he’s not going to make things better he’s going to make things worse at a slower rate” and loads of people turned up to get mad and say no he’s actually going to enact a progressive agenda so there are people out there who seriously buy into the kayfabe.

I don’t have Twitter, but I can only hope these people are just deluding themselves to avoid the stark reality of what an absolute banter country the USA is. Surely no one, if they’re actually honest with themselves, truly believes that? Surely? The alternative is that centrist wanks think that “progressive” and “not outright fascism” are synonyms, which is also possible.

Frankly, Shaun comes across as a top boy in his videos and I’m just appalled that anyone would have a go at him.

My ex worked for a big company, think they are Fortune 500.  Anyway, they have a policy right and apparently its common.  You get f**k all holidays to start with in America, one week in your first year, two in your second, after five years it goes up to three I think then ten years its four.  Something ridiculous like that. She couldn't believe it when I told her here any job at all as soon as you walk in the door you get 4.3 weeks or whatever.

Anyway get this right, they have a system where you can buy and sell holiday days. Its a big board posted on their intranet, and say you need a couple of days off and have used up yours. You post an add saying you need two days and are willing to pay say 300 dollars per day.

Or if you have a couple you have left over and don't plan to use you can sell them, so advertise for offers or a certain amount.  Its mind boggling.

Also she has been promoted like 5 times in 6 years, you can move up the ladder fast there. And each time what happens is you negotiate with your employer. There's no pay scale, you go in and say I want 20k and three extra days holiday, they say 10k and one day and you settle on 15k and two days.  Absolutely mental, a pure capitalist system.

No that's a cop-out. That's how the conditions were created where Trump got elected in the first place.

If you don't change them you're going to get another Trump, and the next one will be far smarter, slicker, more charming and more effective than he was. It was lucky he was an idiot, the next one won't be.

Its a system that needs fundamental structural change and just voted to definitely not have any of that at all.  Its not a cause for celebration.

I get it, but your gripe is with the American voter rather than with Biden. In the last Democratic gubernatorial primaries, Illinois - as solidly blue a state as you’ll find - was offered the choice between a genuine progressive (Daniel Biss) and two centrists (Chris Kennedy, JB Pritzker) and Pritzker absolutely pissed it. The Overton window has been whacked so far to the right that upwards of a third of the country think Joe’s a socialist - mostly because they have no idea what socialism is, but that’s by the bye. Maybe the US will be ready for a President Ocasio-Cortez in 2050 but it’s not ready for a President Bernie at the moment. At this point, it means no more Stephen Miller in the White House, no more gaslighting of the press by a malignant sex doll whenever they can be arsed wheeling her out, no more having an Education Secretary who’s raison d’etre is the destruction of public education, no more Fauci having to walk on eggshells, no more Deborah fucking Birx, no more having to listen to Jim fucking Jordan. It’s not a lottery jackpot win, but it’s 3 numbers and a tenner, which can then be invested in more tickets to try and get to that jackpot; it’s still a win.

So, given the choice was between Biden and a total nutcase, Biden was the better bet then.

This is all true and a good post, however it also means another Trump in ten years time as the system will continue to let mass swathes of the population down.

I don't blame American voters, I blame their media.  Similar to here with Brexit.

This. To survive and get anything done in American politics you need a fair deal of pragmatism and willingness to compromise, so everyone's got stuff in their past they wish was forgotten about. It doesn't necessarily make them evil. I'll judge Biden on how much he manages to improve things in the next 4 years, or at least restores some sanity, with no doubt more necessary compromises along the way.

It really was about pissing on people’s parades and his replies were basically just shitting on anyone that wasn’t miserable about the inauguration so I get why people were mad. He wasn’t wrong though!

Okay, reasonable post. But I didn't say that, don't know how that is quoting me there.

Also, all polling indicated Bernie would have beat Trump in 2016, so that's not strictly true. The American system isn't ready to accept a Bernie, but the American voter is crying out for one.

Aye, he has the picture of the skull with sunglasses. At least, that’s who I’m on about, I assume @NotThePars is the same.

Quite a lot of projection in there.

It seems a little odd that empathy is always 'stage managed' but rudeness is not.  Personally, I think it's possible for people to display both.  I know I do.

One thing that will happen is that the Violence Against Women Act (which has been ignored by the Senate for about a year I think) will get re-authorised.

Would that be such a terrible thing?

Yea, that’s the one. I haven’t actually watched any of his vids but see him on Twitch occasionally. As a rule, I don’t bother with Breadtube’s political content so I think the only vid of that crowd’s I’ve recently watched is Hbomberguy’s New Vegas one.

Why would you stage manage rudeness?

Of course not, as I said he will do some normal half decent things that anyone who isn't a total psychopath would do.  That doesn't really deserve much praise.
