What wasn’t is the Ossoff - Perdue senate race in GA going to a runoff, which if it does (and it is currently) could have the Democrats tie the senate 50/50 if both Warnock and Ossoff win their runoffs on Jan 21. When the senate is tied between the two parties then the VP is the casting vote, so for the next 4 years McConnell would be Kamala’s bitch. It will be interesting if right wing Dems, and left wing ones, tow the party line. I reckon Kamala in her stilettos will be happy to enforce a bit of discipline though. Mark Kelly and his identical twin brother Scott are both astronauts. Mark commanded the penultimate Space Shuttle flight. Scott recently spent a year in space as part of preparations for travel to Mars; as they're identical twins they effectively had a control human on the ground, and they carried out all sorts of tests on the pair of them to get a better understanding of the effects of being in space for such a long time. There's a very decent wee series about it on Netflix called A Year In Space. Mark is married to Gabby Giffords, the former Congresswomen from Arizona who was shot and nearly killed in a gun attack in 2011 that took the lives 6 people including a 9 year old girl and a federal judge, and wounded 14 more.
