Jacinda Ardern

If anyone interested counting is underway in the New Zealand election and polls tipping Labour will be the major party with exit polls giving themoutside possibility of Labour governing in their own right. So Jacinda will remain as the NZ PM. NZ has a Mixed Member Proportional (MMP) representation system so each person has 2 votes, 1 for a local MP and 1 for a party. NZ also held a referendum to legalize euthanasia and another to legalize cannabis in conjunction with election.

My NZ sister's over here and she's voted online. How very modern.

Labour are a bawhair off an overall majority, and the Greens are neck and neck with the Libertarian gun lobby ACT party for third spot, so a Labour/Green coalition look likely to have a comfortable majority.

Judith Collins has conceded defeat and interesting that Winston Peters, National First who backed Labour instead of National last time is out.

Aren't New Zealand having a vote on legalising euthanasia this weekend as well? Do the right thing lads.

Anyone incapable of following this thread should probably be first on the list, if it passes...

Weed and euthanasia legalised?
My wife has just told me we’re emigrating to New Zealand.

To euthanise you and then she celebrates with a joint after?

Yeah, I thought that was obvious.

NZ vote yes for euthanasia so far 65.2% for 33.8% against. With 480,000 what they call special votes still to be counted it can’t be beaten. Probable no to cannabis reform with 53.1% against 46.1% for, so guess a few informal votes. Again 480,000 special votes to be counted but reports indicate about 70% of these will need to be yes votes to change the outcome. Final result not expected until Nov 6.
