Cant remember him doing that in his first spell, but might be wrong.

Could be right. I guess he had Macca to do a lot more of the physical side last time round as well.

Did we overestimate his pace first time round? I remember him being quick-ish at best. Difficult to assess (without being his fitness coach...) how much his injury has taken out of him.

I don't think he ever had great pace.  He's looking back to his best. And to think a lot of us were saying he couldn't play up front on his own!
