If weirdly sculpted rocks are your thing then you might like these pics of an alien-like world near Schiehallion...

I find it weird and random anyway.

There is another square pool, about 6x6 foot on the beach below the Wester Braes at Kinghorn along from the Lifeboat station, it gets full of sand often due to high tides.

The Burn o' Vat near Ballater is more or less a giant one of these and is quite a cool spot.

It has a funny little doorway leading into it as well.

Just reminded me of a weird masonic-like star in Old Aberdeen.  To the best of my knowledge, the jury is still out on what the hell it was for.

A rampaging horde of Newtongrange Star fans up for a Junior Cup tie carved that IMHO.

On the subject of odd streets, we of course have Ebenezer Place in Wick which at 2.06m long is the world’s shortest street.

I still don't get how this is a street, it's just a hotel restaurant door that opens onto a roundabout! Good advert for Mackay's mind; one of the few places to get a decent meal in Wick.

This has inadvertently reminded me of so-called streets further north in Kirkwall and Lerwick.

They fool you into thinking you're walking along a pavement... until a car suddenly appears up your arse*.

*and no, not a Matchbox model up one's sphincter.

Eta: can't forget Stromness, especially as they have this:

Schiehallion is weird, so many rocks at the top and nowhere else. Excellent im knackered now for this ankle killer.

RE the signage of lanes, Keith should also get another mention here seeing as the residents relatively recently decided to take it upon themselves to name the numerous side lanes.

Seeing as Keith is full of Doric speakers, the names largely ended up like this:

(I picked the second one just because I like the bear guarding it's whisky barrel)

Last time I was up in Orkney the Norwegian Jade had docked and those streets were rammed with hundreds of old Japanese folk walking about absolutely hammered swigging champagne and wine straight from the bottle! People watching was pretty entertaining that day! 😄

ETA: A fucking big boat too.

Does Ploo mean plough like it does in Ayrshire?
