Hibernian v The Rangers

I’m not saying he is a bad player mate, I’m just saying his ability seems to have been overhyped since signing for Hibs. He comes across as some kind of cult hero for them, and it’s like he gets praised when in reality he hasn’t stood out in any of the Hibs games I’ve seen. I don’t think any player from either side yesterday had an outstanding performance.

I'm admittedly a Gogic stan but the hype from Hibs fans seems to mostly be folk saying he's improved us a lot. It would be hard to argue against that being the case. The same defence, apart from an 18 year old left back in for Stevenson, has gone from conceding 49 goals in 30 games to 5 in 8, with zero conceded in open play before yesterday. The one time he hasn't played this year, the midfield was abject. The defenders deserve credit for individually improving but if you'd watched Hanlon and Porteous constantly charging into no man's land to try and cover the midfield for two years, you'd get why we're excited by a good DM for this level.

I don't think any of us rate him so highly that we don't expect Rangers to create chances while he's playing but yesterday was a million times better than the shite performances from Hibs v Rangers last year.

Gogic getting (rightly so) a lot of plaudits for shoring up our defence and adding much-needed steel, but Paul McGinn should carry equal credit.  PMcG has been absolutely outstanding so far - he is a classy player, very calm and composed, and is capable of moments of real class (like sending Tav to the cleaners at c.80 minutes yesterday).  Two brilliant bits of business by us in addition to Nisbett and Wright who also look like shrewd acquisitions.

Porto - no words.  We love you, you love us, we both hate Sevco. No more needs to be said.

Sevco's reaction yesterday is exactly why Celtic will get their 10 IAR this season, and the meltdown from Govin may be on a scale never seen before.

The Hibs Left Centre Back (Hanlon I think) had to pick up Kamara. He couldn't leave him for Doig as that would have then allowed Tavernier free reign down Hibs' left flank.

Hibs back 5 were all occupied: Boyle was picking up Barisic, McGinn had Morelos, Porteous had Arfield, Hanlon had Kamara and Doig had to cover Tavernier had he came forward. That left Hagi spare on Gogic's side of Midfield. I appreciate what you saY about needing help from his defenders, but they were all occupied leaving Gogic to deal with Hagi which he missed.

Anyway, I feel this has went down a bit of a rabbit hole. Like you said, you (and others) have their opinion on Gogic, I have mine. I'll not take up anymore of your time on the matter haha.

Impressive

Gerrard comments about Porteous were embarrassing for him, the fact he has allowed a 21 year old to get into his head like that suggests he may not have mettle for management at a high level, he still thinks and acts as if he is still a player and one of the boys.

As much as the result was pleasing and shone a light on some of Rangers obvious deficiencies it’s far from a defining moment in the season, it will be interesting to see how we fair against Hibs next week.

Crazy how Steven Gerrard has gone from Champions League Winning Captain to getting absolutely rattled due to a 21 year old from Dalkeith smiling at him.

World class player, total cock/miraculously underperforming manager.
