I see home clubs are responsible for all the match officials costs despite having zero gate income. Pretty poor in current circumstances.

It's tough on all clubs who have to pay out these costs but, at least, they are at home and haven't got to deal with the cost of travel.

I'm unsure whether it's correct, but I read elsewhere that for this cup this season, association pays travel costs.

Certainly for the last few years there has been travel expenses for the away side.

  • £300 when the distance is more than 120 miles
  • £250 when the distance is more than 100 miles and no greater than 120 miles
  • £200 when the distance is more than 80 miles and no greater than 100 miles
  • £150 when the distance is more than 50 miles and no greater than 80 miles
  • £0 when the distance is 50 miles or less.

Travel expenses and distribution of gate receipts are meant to be under review with the increased numbers in the competition. Just with everything going on this year any changes have been delayed.

Travel costs for longer distances are covered. Match official costs of upwards of £130 are not.

Just another expense on top of all other expenses with no gate income, and no prospect of any this year, and probably not until Feb/Mar. Something has to give.
