Pollock vs Tranent

Kelty vs Talbot, Ardrossan vs Stirling Uni, Luncarty vs Whitletts, Edinburgh Utd vs Arthurlie

Five West of Scotland League teams in those have quit league and shut down.

Some saying shut down for health and safety but been playing friendlys all month. What happens now. Do they have to quit cup and all or ok to play on? Belters game not long. 24 October.

Pollok, Dunbar United and Kilbirnie Ladeside have scratched their South Challenge Cup R1 ties - walkovers to Tranent, Drumchapel United and Carluke Rovers respectively.

Remaining ties proceed. Spartans-Kinnoull is Friday night (avoiding clash with Edinburgh City-Cowdenbeath).

Any idea why Dunbar have scratched?

Yesterday at Camelon you saw the impact the injury situation facing our squad is having. We had many players out and several others playing through the pain barrier to enable us to field a team.

As a result we have made the tough decision to pull out of the Challenge Cup. Our focus, for this season, is the EoS Premier League and we look forward to being back in the Challenge Cup next season.

Worth saying nothing improper in this - though obviously intended for WOSFL clubs withdrawing from football for another year, any entrant could scratch without penalty up to yesterday.

In the WoSFL fixture release, several teams have been given games on 21st November (date of 2nd round of South Region Challenge Cup), implying others have withdrawn.

Wishaw (Cumnock withdrew)
Glasgow Perthshire (Petershill withdrew)
Neilston (Glenafton Athletic withdrew)

So that leaves 8 of the 13 clubs withdrawing from the WoSFL:

Any idea if any of these plan to play?

Cambuslang Rangers v Girvan (if both teams withdraw, it means one lucky team from Round 2 will get a bye into the last 32)
Edinburgh United  v Arthurlie
Kelty Hearts v Auchinleck Talbot
Luncarty v Whitletts Victoria
Saltcoats Victoria v Lochore Welfare
Shettleston v Shotts Bon Accord
Ardrossan Winton Rovers
v University of Stirling

Also, strangely, Lanark United have been given a fixture in the WoSFL on 21st November, the same day they are meant to play Ashfield in the South Region Challenge Cup.

Arthurlie, Benburb, Saltcoats, and Whittlets have withdrawn - I would doubt that any of the other clubs will play their R2 match having decided to withdraw from the WOSFL. Shettleston also pulled out of the WOSFL so presumably that'll be a second lucky loser getting a bye to R3.

Not seen it officially confirmed yet but apparently 13 out of those 14 clubs in WOSFL who have withdrawn from football for another year have scratched, plus 3 more, plus Dunbar so = 17.

Some well-meaning person has updated cup's Wikipedia page with all 14  (including Shettleston in listing but omitted from footnote) + Benburb + Dunbar = 16 scratched. Presumably they assumed all 14 would - and noticed 2 more online; seemingly it's actually 13 from 14 - and 4 more.

Ashfield's twitter confirmed that Lanark United had scratched. So that's one of the additional teams that didn't withdraw from the WoSFL this season.

Hardly the wider circumstances anyone could have envisaged... but nevertheless a historic day tomorrow when the first truly comprehensive cup for southerly non-league football begins, most of what was left of junior football having entered EOS + WOS leagues. Single tie Friday, rest Saturday, with several streaming:

Friday 23rd October
Spartans v Kinnoull

Saturday 24th October
Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic v Newtongrange Star
Broxburn Athletic v Creetown
Easthouses Lily v Larkhall Thistle
Irvine Victoria v St Anthonys
Jeanfield Swifts v Lochgelly Albert
Maybole v Vale of Leven
Sauchie v Kilwinning Rangers
Thornton Hibs v Rutherglen Glencairn
Threave Rovers v Ormiston
Vale of Clyde v East Kilbride Thistle

Easthouses and Sauchie maybe the hardest to predict.

Two ties ell foul of wet weather. Easthouses perhaps result of the day in seeing off Larkhall: possibly 2 weeks competitive headstart helped. There was penalty shootout drama on Ayrshire coast.

Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic 2-0 Newtongrange Star
Broxburn Athletic 6-0 Creetown
Easthouses Lily 5-3 Larkhall Thistle
Irvine Victoria 3-3 St Anthonys (aet - FT 3-3; 3-5p)
Jeanfield Swifts 5-0 Lochgelly Albert
Maybole 2-3 Vale of Leven
Sauchie P-P Kilwinning Rangers
Thornton Hibs P-P Rutherglen Glencairn
Threave Rovers 7-2 Ormiston
Vale of Clyde 4-1 East Kilbride Thistle (aet - FT 1-1)

Safe bet that the postponed games just get moved to the weekend of the 21st of November?
