Just got a 6 page leaflet through the door. 4 pages are about avoiding a referendum, one is about economic recovery, and one is from the local candidate talking about local issues.

4 pages!!

Got the same one full of tory guff, our local candidate is Edward Mountain, a total buffoon who calls himself Sir Edward as he's a Baronet which is the lowest of the low titles, the Sir is Honorary not Awarded, inherited the title, land and money from his father, a typical waste of space tory.

Hopefully he'll easily find a hill to die on.

As a unionist, I must confess that Douglas Ross is not a great choice to be leader.

Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a great pool of talent to pick from and that includes all the parties.

Just a pity that Ruth Davidson has packed it in.
I do, however, think it’s a bit unfair to ridicule people who have hereditary titles.
They can’t help who there parents were.

Why should someone like myself, from a Council house background, have an advantage?

No, take people as you find them and a bit less stereotyping wouldn’t go amiss.

As I’ve said before, one of the most decent and egalitarian politicians I met was Tam Dalyell who came from an aristocratic background but was very left Labour like Tony Benn.

Likewise, Lord James Douglas Hamilton was a charming individual with great wit and knowledge.

In contrast. Some of the SNP MP’s find it difficult to string a sentence together.

It's not a particularly good look to accuse people of finding it difficult to string a sentence together when there's a rogue full stop in the middle of your accusation.

He might have got away with it by saying the full stop was supposed to be a comma, but oh dear, he went and capitalised the "S" in some.

Thus

    "In contrast."

demonstrates that they themselves are just as incapable of stringing a sentence together!

Here's something to help them:-

Davidson has not packed it in, rather she has elected to continue as a politician without the bother of elections and she's free to do so for the rest of her life with a daily fee and more expenses than you can shake a stick at.

As for landed gentry, I have no truck with those that would seek to be prejudiced against them but i continue to be surprised on the ongoing coincidental phenomenon that sees so many of them win through the Tory selection processes.

Aye, the current 3rd Earl of Attlee who sits in the Lords as a Tory must be beelin his grandfaither was the great Labour reformer Clement Attlee.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Attlee,_3rd_Earl_Attlee

Though in saying that, if Clement Attlee was such a great socialist Labour man....he should have told the peerage system to ram it. Then his unelected Tory grandson would not be making laws 70 years later.

Hmm, I wonder if that's one of those bought honours. I had a look and his great-grandfather was knighted in 1918 and made a baronet in 1922. That was at the peak of Lloyd George selling honours, when anyone could openly buy a knighthood for £10,000, a baronetcy for £30,000 and a peerage from £50,000 up. It was outlawed in 1925, but not before thousands had bought knighthoods and tens of thousands bought OBEs in 1916 to 1922 alone.

Interesting that Douglas Ross in a TV news interview last week did not mention the SNP or Independence once and instead waffled on a about the vaccine being available because we are in the UK.

A clear indication that his westminster bosses have told him that banging on about Independence doesn't work and all it achieves is him making a fool of himself.

Andrew is either a lying c**t or has suffered some kind of trauma.

Why, I know a few that are now more likely to vote that way.

I actually don't meet anyone now that speaks about Sturgeon in a good way.

You do realise that says more about the people you talk politics with than about Sturgeon, surely? Her favourability polling is insanely high.

This works the other way too, for folk who say "I don't know anyone voting Tory".

Or perhaps Nicola's popularity has increased within soft/non Indy contributors whilst a decrease among hard Indy.
