The Conservative Party would have to re-brand in an independent Scotland. The current Scottish Tories have one main policy and independence would see them become utterly irrelevant since said policy would no longer have any relevance, meaning or purpose.

It would be interesting, as they would have to properly register themselves in Scotland and one would hope, Scotlands new electoral commission would be a fair bit more rigorous about foreign influences, so they couldn't have anything other than very informal ties with the mothership down south.

DRoss must be thinking that it is almost safe to tell "his followers" that he is backing Rishi soon.

Mentioning something about Sunak being the only person able to stabilise the markets and economy.........perhaps not mentioning that the SNP should still follow the Truss / Kwateng tax cutting plan that led to absolute chaos (he'll want us to forget about that of course......but we winna)

Given his savvy I half expect to see him declaring for BoJo!

This c**t still not stuck his head above the parapet?

He will once the new PM is announced (Sunak you'd imagine) and say he should've been PM all along.

The spineless, cretinous, sphincter-rimming human-tongue has now bravely backed Rishi.

You got that right.......(from Grauniad)

Douglas Ross, the embattled Scottish Conservative leader, has congratulated Rishi Sunak on securing the leadership of the UK party, even as his own tenure is under increasing threat.

Ross said he looked forward to working with Sunak “for the good of Scotland and for the whole of the United Kingdom” in a short statement on Twitter, adding: “As he showed during his time as chancellor – not least in safeguarding one in three Scottish jobs during the pandemic through the furlough scheme – Rishi Sunak is uniquely well equipped for that task.”

DRoss bumping his gums that an independent Scotland would be forced by the EU to adopt the Euro. Sturgeon retorts by giving the example of Sweden joining 27 years ago and still using their own currency.  She could have used the even more recent examples of Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary joining the EU and still not using the Euro.

ETA...ah, I missed the start of FMQs, she did make that very point.

She must have gotten the 27 years idea from this bloke, who thinks Scottish independence is driven by a movie that was released in 1995
