St Johnstone v St Mirren 29/8

Recommended Posts

Says a lot about the last two games in an attacking sense that I’d be excited about having Chris Kane available tomorrow... seriously hope we can start with they May/Hendry pairing though. Davidson back as well would be a big plus.

FFS, do I have to do everything myself? 🙄

Perth, a town with a tiny population, the vast majority of them tory voting farmer types, prefers rugby to football. It's just not a footballing town. The attendances play this out with an embarrassing few bothering to file into their decrepit stadium, the only time it's full is when they hock themselves out to the old firm or a bunch of god botherers turn up to drown themselves in the name of Jesus. It's so bad that their sugar daddy actively begged the council to allow him to demolish a stand just to stop the embarrassing sight of it being so empty. The council said no because, just like those who live in Perth, they don't care about the club.

Their current position within the top flight is unmerited and are more traditionally a 2nd and 3rd tier club, unlike the team they are hosting. Lucking out with Wright, their days of shamefully enjoying the undeserved limelight is soon to be ended with the disastrous appointment of a man wholly incapable of turning the downward trend. Davidson at this point has not only engendered ire from from the fanbase, he has just the one win to his name, a fluke result from the opposition going down to 10 men.

It would be funny if it wasn't all just so embarrassing for them.

Aye. I doubt they've sold even half our 3,200 season tickets...

St Mirren fans crowdwanking when they've not finished above us in about 30 years.

Never change.

Randomguy doesn't do accuracy.
To be fair I would have let him away with 20 years but 30 was pushing it [emoji23].

Ironically that season we won more times in the space of about 4 days at McD Park that season than I've seen in years.

Other than that season I can remember a victory with a McGinty hat trick [emoji1787] and the 2-1 game where Drury scored the winner in our disgraceful campaign under Tommy Craig. Really struggling to remember any other wins after they 2.

Ok, I cheated. We had a couple of wins in 11/12 one in the league and the other in the league cup. Other than that the record is horrible. Including a few tankings

I thought it was quite obvious I was making a joke.

Nothing screams "diddy" more than clutch of fans celebrating that it was actually just the 20 years since they had a relevant higher finish though.

Perth has never been a happy hunting ground for St Mirren.

Never say never. My first time watching Saints in Perth was a 5-0 win in 1976. Stuart McBean, a regular in my local, played left back for the Saintees that day although he says he can't remember the game.

Lads whoever wins this game might want to record the full game on BBC Alba at 11pm.

That'll be a decent source for slow motion footage of the agricultural tackles put in by our farming cousins.

I know you were [emoji3059]. Perth Saints can have the last 30 years, we'll have the previous 100 [emoji39].

Not long till the lineups will be in. Not expecting too many changes for us. Cammy in for Shaugnessy with Foley going to centre half. Must admit this concerns me today, Hendry is a right pest of a striker, not sure how Foley will cope with his direct runs with the ball.

Hopefully Durmus is at least on the bench. Junior probably deserves another start but he has real competition for his place now.
