You know what the problem is with 3 at the back often, and you see it here. The defenders need to understand they have an attacking duty too, especially the wide ones of the three.  They have to be brave enough to step out at times and push the wingback on or even go past him a couple of times, the central one needs to step into midfield when we have the ball.

It changes the dynamic of the whole thing, without that it becomes passive and disjointed, but it requires the players to be a wee bit brave. Like the wide CB's need to be prepared to get into a position semi regularly where they can potentially put a deep cross in from, that's a good rule of thumb, and the central one has to step in and play as a midfielder when we get the ball. It all works better if they do that.

I feel bad for Robertson.
He isnt good at dribbling past players. Never has been. Needs a winger in front of him cutting inside to create space. This system totally takes away his attacking threat.
100% agree. The hard working Mane cutting inside leaves so much space down the left flank for Liverpool.

We'd have a much better chance than we would against Norway. Norway is a 5 or 6 goal beating.

I guess this is entirely based on Haaland.

Serbia are an incredible unit, have a midfield full of physical, technically talented, box to box players, and have Mitrovic up front who literally wins everything in the air.

Great insight from our resident ex-pro.
