St Johnstone v Hibernian, Sunday 23/08/20

Recommended Posts

I'm assuming that St Johnstone's unstoppable power of always being able to sclaff a last minute goal against Hibs will finally overcome Hibs' impunity to goals scored from open play.

Jack Ross has been hinting at injuries this weekend  without disclosing the injuree in question, so the options are:

2-1 (if Porteous, Hanlon, Marciano or Gogic are injured)

1-1 (if Boyle, Nisbet or Doidge are injured)

1-4 (otherwise)

Sounds like it might be Drey Wright - he was aiming to come back from injury at this one.

So, 1-4.

Liam Craig red card for persistently scrunched up face

Do Hibs get 6th place last season if they win this one?

I'm hoping that either Callum Davidson has given himself a shake after the shame of the Aberdeen performance, or Macca his got him telt, and we're lining up with a  fit team in a decent shape.

Alternatively, we'll still be short of key players and CD is sticking to his mis-firing guns.

Scenario 1

                             Clark

D.Mac   Kerr  Gordon  McCart  Booth

        A.Mac       Muzz        Spoons

                  Hendry     May

2 - 0 home win

Scenario 2

                             Parish

D.Mac   Kerr  Gordon  McCart  Tanser

                  A.Mac       Craig

        Spoony   Hendry   MOH

0 - 2 away win

Since Drey Wright was lured away with a big city high-rolling paycheque, he's been replaced by loanee Danny McNamara who is looking pretty decent so far.

Midfield will be interesting. Liked Gogic at Hamilton but don't really remember him giving us much trouble, think he's a better player now though.

Only players being talked about coming back are May and Kane, so the midfield will still be an empty zone for us.

Expecting a struggle.

Doidge wins every header, and Hibs always have someone at AM, while we have a huge empty zone between defence and midfield.

Aberdeen came for the 0-0 the other night and pulled our pants down. Hibernian will (surely) be more expansive, so let's see what happens in those circumstances if the manager keeps the same shape.

And if we get pumped can we put this shite gameplan in the bin?

Another sky classic for the neutral to look forward to.

Either a hard fought 0-0 or 1-1, or 4-1 Hibs.

We really could be doing with a decent performance here..

Cant be any worse than the last three televised games,  both teams having a part to play in two of those games.... can it?

I'm being optimistic and going for a few goals in this, hoping both teams see this as an opportunity for 3 points... so 1-2.

Another vote for consigning shitball to the bin.

                             Parish

               Kerr Gordon McCart

MacNamara                         Booth (if available)

     Wotherspoon McCann Craig

                      MOH  May

Hendry to come on as an impact sub and get the goal to kick start his season. Or starting ahead of O'Halloran.

If we have players back from injury and Callum deviates from his one dimensional football philosophy then we may have a chance. If not? We're fucked.

We did pretty good against the team that finished bottom 6 last season apart from Hibs iirc.

Be interesting if that continues.

We pumped hearts and Accies a couple of times each, beat Livi and killie once apiece, and failed to beat st Mirren and Ross County (as well as Hibs) so a bit of a mixed bag!
