Dundee United v Celtic 22/08/2020

Recommended Posts

Shite way to lose a game but don't feel too downhearted after that. Thought we played well first half and looked dangerous on the handful of occasions we got bodies forward. Couldn't really get anything going in the 2nd half and we were crying out for a target man type striker who could hold the ball up a bit. Positives are we looked well organised again, every player seemed to know what was expected of them and they all grafted away for the full 90 minutes.

The coaching team deserve praise for sorting a Championship side who looked soft at times last season, adding a few youngsters and making the team compete at this level.

Second half Celtic looked a class above United at points, but after they scored Mellon pushed players up and Celtic looked shaky.

He's still lacking a player who can hold it up in forward areas, but I think there's little danger of a relegation battle with Micky Mellon in charge.

United will easily stay up Grandma, they look to have a good young team there.  Your much better than 3 or 4 teams at least.

I think you can revise your objective and look up the way at a possible top 6 finish.  Probably need another striker right enough, look a bit light up top, but all these young guys should have a good future.

In our first season back; 10th would be acceptable, 7th or 8th would be very good, top six would be exceptional.

This is how we should set our expectations.

Staying up with no worries of playoffs would be good.

Anything else is a bonus.

If you'd told me the majority of our starting 11 that regularly struggled vs part time teams in the Championship would manage to keep Celtic out for 80 minutes while looking competent id have assumed you'd be an escaped mental patient.

Micky has already done some job.

Got there in the end but that was hard work. Not sure about the formation and thought Christie in particular was murder but delighted to get the win and for Ajeti to score his first goal.

Wut.

Christie was by far Celtics most positive player. Him and Frimpong were their biggest dangers.
