That penalty in the Brighton should never have been awarded in the first place, so VAR overturning it was a good use of technology.

The rules for penalty taking require major revision all-round. That's not strictly a VAR issue (though having failsafe evidence exacerbates the problem) as even Morton got done for our goalkeeper not being exactly on the line in a Championship game last season.

Brilliant, good to see Oliver being strong enough to reverse his decision.

Yup, was a great call. I like to watch MOTD without knowing anything about the games, so wasn't pleased with the original decision after the replay showed a clear dive, but was very pleased with the ref overturning it. That's a good use of VAR and what the system should be used for.

As an amusing aside, even Alan Shearer, serial diver, said it was the correct decision. Ian Wright, serial sulker, just sulked for some reason.

Stonewaller pen for West Brom denied by VAR. Get it in the fucking sea. Utd very, very lucky there.

Mind, if the lad had hit it first time, he'd likely score.

Nah, that was also a dive and rightly was told to bolt.

Fernandes' penalty was nonsense though. If keepers have to keep a foot on the line then players can't be doing that shite.

Completely correct decision tbf, the keeper jumped about 5 feet forward before the ball was hit. He did it again at retake.

The keeper is always going to move when the player stutters before hitting the penalty. If the rules have changed to keep keepers on their line then they should change to stop stuttered run ups

Every time a Mourinho team gets a decent result, the narrative is "another Mourinho masterclass". Cant think of another manager who gets wanked over to such an extent. Maybe Pep does in general terms but Jose certainly gets it on a game by game basis more than anyone else.

It's a bit puzzling why Jonjo Kenny, the obvious replacement for Coleman, is not even in the squad. He does not appear to be injured or ill.

Similarly, Mason Holgate would be a better choice than Ben Godfrey or Yerry Mina.

And, bang on cue, DCL scores again!
