Some say "pointlessly stricter" others say "28% increase in deaths attributes to Covid in England than in Scotland per capita"

I think in the context of closing stadiums, it was pointlessly stricter in this instance.

In terms of wider restrictions, that's another debate.

Possibly it was stricter but that's a lot easier in hindsight. If a slightly over precautious strategy has, it seems, dampened the spread and effect of Covid compared to our neighbours in the last 2 years it would make sense to continue that strategy

I'd agree with that approach if they were "following the science" when imposing the fan restrictions, which they've admitted to not doing.

Today cases reached 100,000 in the uk  for the first time since mass testing . If you think the Scottish government is budging anytime soon with those kinds of figures to back them up then you are deluded or have been living on the moon the last two years

Pleasantly surprised I was wrong

I did have a bit of a headsgone following the restrictions being freshly announced . it happens , I’m sure we have all been there at various points the last two years.

although I have stated on here and the Covid thread that with it becoming clearer England  were not budging on stadium attendances in the weeks following then Sturgeon would have no option but to allow fans back here . So glad a glimmer of sense has made its way into Holyrood.

In my mind, the only reason that football is getting crowds back is because of the 6 Nations Rugby.

If Scotland werent at murrayfield 5th Feb crowd restrictions would have continued for a week or two i think, she and her cronies really dont like club football

I don’t buy the idea that they’re only bringing back crowds for the rugby. That game is still over 3 weeks away so bringing them back from next week doesn’t affect things at all.

Because this way they arent seen to be favouring any team, if she brought the crowds back on jan 31st everyone would have kicked up a f**k saying "it was only for the OF game"

OF fans live in such a world of paranoia that every decision in life that affects them in some way has to have a conspiracy spin behind it.

In simple terms the government panicked and brought in daft restrictions, seeing they weren't working they are now relaxing them again.

No way were the government conspiring and saying lets get football crowds back 3 weeks before the rugby so nobody figures out what we are doing.

Just remember that they only brought forward the winter break because Celtic had a few injuries. Sporting integrity apparently [emoji28]

It wasn’t a Rangers or Celtic fan  who originally made the point about rugby ?

It was me, and I stand by that. It would have been far too obvious to bring back the crowds in the immediate lead up to the first Murrayfield game. This has nothing at all to do with Celtic and Rangers.
