COVID-19 In Scottish Football

The journalists are selected ahead of time on a request basis, so Chris Mclaughlin et al being on the list will have clued them in that the football questions would come up,  but the journalists are not asked to provide their questions in advanced, are they? That seems highly unlikely.

Sorry, aye I should have worded that differently. The journalists were selected ahead of time, and the nature of the questions would be very obvious from who they were.

my take in all of this is there was nothing Celtic or Aberdeen could do the players decided to break the lockdown ... the clubs cannot oversee there players 24/7 ... the players are the ones who should be punished ie losing there licence to play in Scotland
they are above the lockdown the only alternative is for players to wear trackers on there lower leg just above the ankle like ... i know it sounds drastic ... but the fate of the game in Scotland is at stake due to a group of players and a individual player believing

Their licence to play in Scotland??

Yes sine die from the game in Scotland and if the rumours are true he went to Spain to speak to another club then his agent was also involved .... he should lose his FIFA agent licence as his punishment

Imo the only reason football should be shut down (aside from a general lockdown) would be if players and officials were becoming infected despite complying with the protocols, including any that are football specific. That would be an indication that it wasn’t safe to carry on.

The fact that certain players are choosing to ignore the rules should mean that they are punished. Non-compliance with the rules doesn’t mean the system itself is inherently unsafe or wrong. You don’t close all the roads just because some idiots choose to drive dangerously. You deal with the idiots.

I'll bet more idiots will be unmasked.

Dangerous ground being trod here. Are we saying that because Bolingoli is not Scottish he should be banned from playing here? Sounds a bit of a very iffy argument. If it had been Leigh Griffiths, not outside the realms of possibility, would you see his punishment as being different because he’s Scottish? Good as Neil Lennon’s interview was yesterday, it just seems too easy to hammer the foreign player, who also happens to be shite. Not a good way to go about things.

I thought something similar listening to Michael Stewart & A N Other (I forget who) discussing both cases on the Sportsound podcast - the Aberdeen guys (who Stewart probably knows) were apparently stupid, but he could understand how it happened whereas Bolingoli was just completely in the wrong without a leg to stand on. It felt at best like the old boys network kicking in and at worst a little racist.

The fact that nothing has been put in place by the SFA or the SPFL opens it up to the SG to step in and force a decision onto football, that's not a good place to be.
A political football being kicked all over the place,Football has become the puppets on a string for the Scottish government.
The fact the covid 19 crisis changes every week makes it difficult to put a punishment in place for individuals breaking the rules.
With fans being allowed to attend matches again all we will get is more scrutiny piled on top from the SG and the wider society.

That has absolutely nothing to do with my point. And that it is, as usual, too easy to kick the foreign guy who is shit, rather than act fairly and think what the reaction would be if it was your top Scottish player who was involved.

There is no consistency of automatic bans or retrospective bans for each individuals act, why one player got this and another player got that.

Although looking into it, it also falls under the if you don't do it football could be stopped.

EVALUATION - In order to provide government health officials with the necessary confidence that Scottish football can return safely and in accordance with relevant government guidelines and football protocols, the Scottish FA has agreed that the return to training for clubs outwith the SPFL Premiership – which includes all organised adult football over-18 - will be delayed until at least 24 August, pending updated government guidance on the 20th.

That's not fair, how can they be expected to win their eight remaining games if they're not up to speed?

Good you bring that up. Had the SPFL delayed the start of the new league, which they could have done, we could have worked through all these issues while finishing the previous one. Like so many other countries did.

Instead we get "Gong Show Part Deux: Part Repeat, Part Sequel, All Nonsense"

Just super governance again from the blazers. What an incredibly competent bunch. not reactive instead of proactive at all. Give them a pay rise I say.
