COVID-19 In Scottish Football

Lennon was a nobody in football terms when he came here, a dogged midfielder with a run-of-the-mill club. Hardly high profile as was said before in this thread and seldom mentioned in the same breath as Messi.

Then why would Dundee fans have known anything about his background in order to be booing him for nefarious reasons? I mean, he was a fucking nobody, right? 😂

I’ve seen it at away grounds and suffered sectarian abuse at a few, worst cases were at Kilmarnock, Falkirk and Motherwell. As I said in my 1st post in this, it’s my opinion, and I don’t expect anyone who hasn’t witnessed it or experienced it to agree.

I think we can safely file this mewling pish in the "things that never happened" thread

No idea how you would know one way or the other. A slap and a ‘****** b*****d’ comment walking back to Falkirk train station, I remember it clearly.

See above.

Did he only become black after the Tonev incident? Cause that was when he started getting booed. ,

Outstanding. So Celtic fans only started booing Shay Logan after he had the cheek to be racially abused by Tonev. Truly the greatest fans in the world 😂

Away to f**k you did

Absolutely. What a complete and utter fanny.
I’ve never heard sectarian abuse at TFS from the Falkirk end of the stadium in all my days following the club.
Do I think Lennon is a complete w****r and be happy to give it to him thick.....absolutely?@Drew Brees go and take your sectarian pish elsewhere. I.e. Celtic Park.

Yep, you can thank Drew for that. As strong an attempt at deflection as Neil’s interview.

Or you could go further back to when TheScarf brought the subject up, up to you.

Never said it was at TFS, never even said it was in a stadium. In fact I never even said it was a Falkirk fan. The bait station taking umbrage tonight. Was walking back to train station after a game a brockville

Pretty sure he was black before that. Can’t remember him being targeted by the Celtic fans though. Almost like something changed like, a decision going against the club, for instance.

Proves my point that the abuse he gets isn’t racist. As I didn’t happen before the tonev incident.

I did like when Celtic fans decided that they were booing Shay Logan because of his support for Ched Evans. Even more so that they'd apparently figured out his feelings for Evans long before he ever voiced them.

Never heard that one before.

Wrong, he wasn’t a high profile as in a talented player, he was a very limited player, but well documented in the press at the time he was a lifelong, Irish, Celtic supporter. Enough of a reason for the bigots to hate him.

Quite the rabbit hole this thread has gone down

Which just goes to show all the people who thought that Lennon had misjudged the loyalty of Celtic fans. Give them a chance to play the vhictim card and a good many of them will rally behind it no matter how ridiculous it seems to everybody else.

The abuse I witnessed him receive at countless away grounds doesn’t mean I’m rallying behind him, I want him to shut the f**k up and leave, it just means I’m not blind to a disgusting element of our society. Unlike some it seems.

Anxious health chiefs ordered a total of 16 of Celtic’s players to miss two crucial top flight matches after studying a series of bus trips during the club’s controversial trip to Dubai.

Parkhead boss Neil Lennon described the decision as ‘ludicrous’ during his scatter-gun media address on Monday while suggesting the scale of the numbers involved pointed to a political intervention rather than a straightforward public health measure.

But Record Sport has learned the major reason so many of the travelling party had to self-isolate was based upon a probe into six separate journeys on the team coach, with the club’s own manifests showing injured defender Christopher Jullien sat in at least two different seats.

The Frenchman tested positive on his return to Glasgow to prompt an urgent investigation from track and trace experts.

And it was only after they had examined those seating arrangements that it was decided that as many as 13 of his team-mates – along with three coaching staff including Lennon – would also have to stay at home for 10 days.

The decision effectively forced all of Jullien’s close contacts to sit out the home draws against Hibs and Livingston.

Lennon appears to blame an ‘agenda’ against his club and has accused the government and NHS bosses of ‘moving the goalposts’ when identifying the list of individuals involved.

A second unnamed Celtic player who was identified as a close contact has subsequently gone down with the virus and government sources say this not only vindicates the track and trace response but may also have helped the club avoid a far more serious outbreak.

Also, it prevented the infected player from potentially spreading the disease among rivals from Hibs and Livi during last week’s matches.

But Lennon called the entire process into question when he angrily rounded on the authorities for forcing so many of his players to be effectively placed under house arrest.

He said: “There seems to be some sort of agenda being driven here. We have been decimated by these rules. I’m not convinced they’re a public health issue. It seems political.”

It’s understood Celtic had originally anticipated their own strict protocols would limit the numbers involved – with Lennon and members of his backroom staff believed to have been sitting closest to Jullien at the front of the plane during the eight-hour charter flights between Glasgow and the UAE.

But during Monday’s explosive rant Lennon also alluded to those numbers soaring after the bus trips came into the scope of the investigation team.

He said: “On the plane it was the guys that were closest to them. So all of a sudden it was two rows back, two rows forward, two rows to the side.

“We were under the impression that with business class seats the distance from two seats back was pretty safe.

“And some lads had to isolate because they were on buses with Christopher.

“This is where I’m confused because all clubs in Scotland have been travelling up and down the country in two buses.

“With these guidelines that we’re now having to adhere to it means that only three players can travel on a 52-seater bus.

“So when we played Hibs last Monday we had to bus six players on two 52-seater buses. So that would mean every club in the country with say, you know, 30 people, would have to take 10 buses.

“So for me the goalposts are completely moved.

“And now all of sudden we adhere to all protocols, have taken photographs, adhered to every rule in place and we have 13 players, and three staff isolating for 10 days that, apart from one, are all negative. It’s absolutely preposterous.”

So, in your opinion, why does Logan get boo'd from the Celtic support?

This rhetoric that Lennon got boo'd by Dundee fans because of his background is nonsense. I have not once heard any form of Sectarian chanting at Dens.

You are right.  We have a disgusting element in our society and, for sure, Lennon has been a victim (in the right use of the word) of anti-Irish discrimination - and some supporters of my club have been in the vanguard of this.

Your big problem was to make it about Dundee.  I find this strange.  There are a few Dees on here that i have issues with but when @Day of the Lordsand @johnnyduncall out your bullshit then I tend to trust them.

It's almost as if a precedence hadn't been set already for breaking the bus rules Neil !!

Eh? 90+% of Celtic fans want him binned. And even the very few supporters he has aren't really buying this rant.

Who knew that wastecoatwilly wouldn't be the biggest moron outed yesterday.

Yer man here's making shit up as he goes along while trying to claim its the rest of Scotland that's bigoted.

No wonder Lawell and Lennon have been able to diddle you morons for so long, you genuinely have to believe you get victimised. I doubt a single person gave a f**k about Lennons religion outside of your wee moron clubs.
