It's a disgrace. There should be a clause in these contracts that allows BBC Scotland to show games that aren't going to be shown on Sky etc. The SPFL do a rotten job of promoting the game.

Great. So we can get Rangers TV on Sky and Celtic TV on the beeb one week, then vice versa the next?

Sky at 25 games covered so far?

Is it 38 in total so might be on course to show all their games?

I thought it was 48 but could be wrong. Pretty poor show tbh, there’s very little football on tonight bar the Premiership games so there’s surely an opportunity there to show one

You're right, 48. not going to show their allocated games again it would seem

While I agree with the sentiment, you can’t just give games to another broadcaster. It would need to involve some kind of bidding process.

EFL Cup semi-final.

While not defending Sky, most of the blame lies with the SPFL. They entered into a deal that placed no mimimim obligations on the broadcast partner.

At the very least, Sky should be required to show one game from each round of fixtures.

3 Scottish games being played tonight, none of which are on Sky.

What are they showing? Fucking wummins football.

I’m not certain but isn’t there something about not being able to show top flight games live when the champions league is on. That might explain why it is English women’s football they are showing.

They can show it, you get something like a £25,000 fine however. Something I guess the SPFL won’t want to pay, but it’s a drop of pish in the ocean to the EPL, hence why they’ve started showing games on CL nights.

That figure is probably wrong.

This likely means the much-lauded “bigger” deal the SPFL agreed with Sky will simply be more of the same.

With their EFL coverage continuing (and possible expanding) they won’t be freeing up any additional slots for more SPFL games.

While that would mean the extra 20 games go out to tender, there’s no guarantee anyone will meet the asking price.

The new Sky deal which kicks in next summer has already addressed this - there's a secondary package of games which Sky have first option to pick up, but which can be sold to another bidder if they don't.

Is this where/how we find out that the other broadcasters aren't interested?

Might get viaplay jumping on occasional Old Firm games if Sky aren't showing them though.

The current deal is 48 games, the new deal is 60 games, even before the additional 20 are available.

“Up to”.

They already don’t show their full quota. With a new EFL deal taking up the same slots as now, it’s difficult to see where they show 60 games.

There are games like Edinburgh derbies and Hearts v Rangers not being shown in the current deal, how likely does it seem that they'd continue to not broadcast these games when they are allowed an extra game per stadium, and have the risk of another broadcaster taking them if they don't?

And when do they show these games?

The only reason they have space for a double bill this coming weekend is because the EFL play Friday and Monday. The Sunday double-header games only happen on FA Cup weekends when there’s no English Premier League.

They could apply the novel concept of having more than one on at the same time.
