Preliminary Round starts tomorrow with the final on the 11th. All games being played at Colovray Stadium in Nyon, Switzerland across from UEFA hq.

Linfield (NIR) vs Tre Fiori (SMR)

Drita (XKX) vs Inter Club d'Escaldes (AND)

Bit of a minter for Linfield being relegated to the prelim stage. Would be hilarious if they failed to qualify for QR1.

Greece, Cyprus, Hungary & Poland have put themselves forward as neutral venues if travel restrictions are in place between drawn together teams. Can't remember the exact number of stadiums but I'm sure it's in the teens.
Seems like a lot of the responsibility will be on the home team for any issues. If they don't reschedule quick enough (or can't) they will forfeit the match. Hopefully everything will go smoothly but I'm not sure given the sheer number of games across competitions.

Preliminary Semi Finals

Tre Fiori 0-2 Linfield

Drita 2-1 Inter Club d'Escaldes

The expected two clubs progress to the prelim final. Linfield took until the 70th minute to score with ex-Motherwell player Christy Mazinga getting the blues second goal. Linfield & the Kosovars Drita play each other on the 11th in the final.

The final has now been a 3-0 default win for Linfield due to Coronavirus cases at Drita...

Interesting that this has happened.

I would assume this will be the result of any similar situations in the UEFA competitions?

Would be mad if, for example, Man City get knocked out because there are a couple of COVID cases in their ranks, but it seems a precedent has been set here.

Think so. Doesn't even have to be a player for there to be issues.
UEFA don't care as long as there are 13 players available. But if the local/national government say no because of a case, the team with the case lose the match.
It seems like Switzerland are taking a strong stance but there is an element of unpredictability about every country (including our own).
Also what's happening to the Kosovan players? Are they all self isolating in Switzerland for a 2 weeks? That's going to make a mess of league's across Europe if it happens regularly.

Absolutely no chance this will happen to the likes of City, they use Drita as an example but will let bigger clubs off, just like with Financial "Fair Play".

First Qualifying Round

Ferencvaros 2-0 Djurgardens IF

Celtic 6-0 KR

Legia Warsaw 1-0 Linfield

Sherrif Tiraspol 2-0 Fola Esch

Connah's Quay Nomads 0-2 Sarajevo

Red Star Belgrade 5-0 Europa

Buducnost Pogodrica 0-2 Ludogorets Razgrad

Ararat Armenia 0-1 (aet) Omonia

Floriana 0-2 CFR Cluj

Maccabi Tel Aviv 2-0 Riga

Qarabag 4-0 Sileks

Dinamo Tibilisi 0-2 Tirana

Dynamo Brest 6-3 Astana

Molde 5-0 KuPS

Flora 1-1 (2-4p) Suduva

Celje 3-0 Dundalk

KI 21/8 Slovan Bratislava

Suprise of the round is Hungarian club Ferencvaros putting out Djurgardens IF of Sweden. Cypriot club Omonia required extra time to see off Aremnian club Ararat whose leagues are 26 places apart in the coefficient. Northern Ireland, Wales & Ireland all bow out early.

Some of the ties are turning into a complete mess.
Slovan Bratislava were due to play in the Faroes on Wednesday. They got negative results before they left but one positive test when they arrived. The Faroe Islands take it seriously and tell Bratislava none of the squad can play. They negotiate with UEFA and Bratislava agree to bring another squad over, mainly full of their youth team, to play the game today.
Same again for the youth team. Negative on departure, one positive on arrival. Game now postponed for the second time.
Presumably the same thing as the Linfield game will happen now with Bratislava forfeiting.

It seems a bit unfair, you can take all the precautions in the world but still catch it - to forfeit the game because of something out of the clubs control is really harsh. I can’t wait to see the double standards in play when a player from a bigger team catches it and they should put them out but won’t.
