Hickey and Hepburn to Bayern

Recommended Posts

Looking likely.  That would mean Morrison (17), Hepburn (16) and Hickey (18) would all be at Bayern.

With Gilmour looking like the love child of an orgy involving Xavi and Iniesta and Liam Smith at Man City Scotland look fuckin brilliant in about five year's time.

Should be all over Dembele at Celtic too, get him to commit to us.

We really seem to be producing top class teenagers now for the first time in a long time. Very exciting.  Top class technically anyway, physically and professionally remains to be seen.

You'll be wanting them all to start the playoff match then.

As for Harry Souttar, don't know why anyone would ask me obviously, but what other 21 year old CB's do we have at a similar level?  The answer is none, we don't have any.  McKenna is nearly 24 and still not got a move to that level, John Souttar the same.  Hanley is pish and at that level next year.

We don't have one single CB playing at a higher level, and none playing at an equivalent level that are as young as him.

Who's Hepburn?

Barry Hepburn 16 year old winger in the process of moving from Celtic to Bayern.  Following on from Liam Smith 17 year old winger moved from Kilmarnock to Man City in January. Add these to the other teenagers we have, there is no doubt the quality of kid coming through now is much better than any time in the last 25 or 30 years.

It remains to be seen if good kids will become good senior players and there is always an attrition rate, but its very promising. Our kids haven't been of much interest to the top clubs in the world for a long time, now they very much are.

Seen quite a few young rangers players linked with the big clubs recently as well.

It can only be a positive thing for Scotland.

Aye a lot of the big clubs wanted Leon King and Kai Kennedy but they both chose to stay. They also just signed a kid from Ross County or somewhere that was wanted by Liverpool etc.  We really seem to have a lot of good teenagers.

Ideally the dream is one day we could field a team and maybe most of a squad all made up of guys at the top clubs in the world. Sounds far fetched but you only need about 16 or 18, its not impossible.

That is unlikely for a country of our size although Belgium have done it and we are closer in population to them than Germany or Brazil. A more realistic aim is to have 3-4 top players and a bunch of players who are good players and sufficient to play to a managers plan. Lots of small countries that do well may only have 1 or 2 top players but the rest of the team are capable of playing to a good level and tactics. Apart from Bale and Ramsay Wales are pretty average but the rest of the team can play a good support role which has gave them a very successful recent spell. I think we almost have the supporting players but we just need a few gems to come through.
