St. Johnstone v Aberdeen (The Massey-Ferguson Main Event)

Further to this, there's an article in The Times today which suggests that there is no official mention of any sort of bubble in the return to football guidelines, and that the issue with the Aberdeen players appears to be that more than three households met up indoors.
The Sturge said yesterday that they "blatantly broke the rules agreed between the SFA, SPFL and the Scottish Government". I guess that means that these rules said something like "you must obey the same laws that everyone else has to obey", rather than that the fitba specific rules imposed more stringent rules on footballers (bubbles etc).

Not at all. The vast majority of people are avoiding the pubs and clubs. It's only the high profile venues that are seeing mobbed crowds. Most local pubs are close to empty.

Yeah that'll be why the Aberdeen contact tracing update earlier in the week listed nearly every fucking pub in the city centre and not just 'people standing around outside Soul, the only place that was actually mobbed'. You are tuned to the moon if you think that local pubs are 'close to empty' right now: I was in Oban last week (no major nightlife attraction like Soul to be found anywhere) and they were all as busy as you'd expect on a pre-Covid Saturday night.

I'd guess that the difference is that while the rest of us can probably break these rules without any consequences whatsoever, the government will have warned the SFA/SPFL that players breaking these rules could lead to very specific sanctions.

A Gammonfest on Radio Scotland the now.

Willie Miller thinks players should be indefinitely banned from socialising. Tom English thinks pubs should be banned from showing live fitba and that 8 Aberdeen players going for a beer will somehow delay fans returning to stadium.

The fact there are no actual guidelines on any of this doesn't seem to matter at all. If would be decent if Radio Scotland could get someone on who isn't an old duffer who's brain has been broken by lockdown.

The only way this sorry saga will be brought to an end is by the Aberdeen players releasing error strewn statements typed on Apple Notes, tagging Nicola imo.

The Budz Bar 8 release a statement!

"It was never our intention to put that those jeopardy" 🤣

None of us could have seen the escalation...

as we stood in a crowded pub full of people not distancing.

After having been warned for almost five months that that escalation was the most likely outcome.

Not sure who okayed this but I wouldn’t have.
