There are only four L2 clubs who realistically have any chance of going down, it seems like a lot of effort to go to to try to win 4 votes when you still need another 11 from the bottom two tiers after that.

There are people who were on that working group who have already basically come out as being agains the Colts, it's not a homogenous block, just as the SFA and SPFL are not. There will be some people in both organisations who back colts, but ultimately it will be a free vote amongst the SPFL clubs.

Top 2 leagues don’t care as it doesn’t affect them so will vote for it

Premier will need to vote 11-1 as nothing goes ahead without their approval.

after that, I believe it’s just overall 75% required so needs 11 Clubs from 42 to stop it. Once the Old Firm put the heat on, it will go thru.

Changes the financial redistribution model, changes the League Cup. Why should money go to expanding the 4th Tier instead of elsewhere? I don't think people running clubs in the Top 2 tiers would be as blinkered as you think. That's without factoring in the general distaste for Colt teams in the pyramid.

No change to distribution model as Colts money will pay for additional teams. Doesn’t change monies for League Cup either per round.

Adds to the expense of the League Cup as more teams involved.

From what i've seen said the money only gets cut from the Top 2 spots for a temporary time period. And it still goes to the matter of why should that money go to the 4th Tier instead of elsewhere.

Vale of Leithen have made a statement regarding the decision.

http://valeofleithen.co.uk/lowland-league/league-ends-relegation-uncertain-vale-left-in-limbo/

Quote

At the beginning of the of the season, the clubs and league agreed a process for ending the season if it could not be completed. If 50% of games were completed, it would end on a Points Per Game basis. If less than 50% of games were completed, it would be null and void. This policy was reaffirmed in January 2021.

Having been told by the Scottish Government that completing the season without weekly PCR testing would not be permitted, the season is over. No team in the league has completed 50% of games, and in the Vale’s case, we are 4 games short of the 50% mark. A policy for this situation was agreed at the start of the season, and reaffirmed in January 2021. Under the agreed rules, the season should have been null and void.

The league Board have now decided, after seeking non binding comments from clubs, to abandon the agreed rules and declare the season on a Points Per Game basis.

The position on relegation is now unclear and based on a number of factors with unknown outcomes: how many teams will be in the league next season? Will it go back to 16, stay at 17, or another number? Will other pyramid clubs declare a champion? Will a club be promoted from the Lowland League? If a club is relegated from SPFL league 2, which league will they go into? All these questions remain unanswered, and the club is now left in no limbo.

Having spend the last year promoting sporting integrity and playing by the rules, it is disappointing to see the Lowland League breaking their agreed process.

Manager Chris Anderson said: “The past year has been a stressful one for everyone with normality coming to a halt in all our lives. The one constant has been the Scottish football infighting and baffling decisions. One minute we were allowed to play, the next we weren’t.

Let’s be clear. I want to stress that we have not preformed as well as we would have liked this year. No excuses. We have been far from the level required after 12 games but with 20 games remaining and still not played everyone around us who knows what would have happened.

That aside – all we’ve listened to over the past year was the SPFL closing the door to pyramids and sporting integrity going down the pan. Well it’s well and truly flushed now.

For this exact scenario we implemented a rule of reaching 50% games for the season to be called. Rules are there to safeguard competition. That trust is now broken.

In a day or two people will forget and move on. Whatever our fate, we will regroup and look forward to rebuilding for next season, whatever league we are in.”

I agree but we all know the Old Firm control Scottish Football

There was no vote. Clubs were told of the boards intentions and were encouraged to give feedback. 9 clubs supported the decision, 3 clubs preferred null and void and I can only assume 5 clubs didn't bother to respond.

Other two beyond Bonnyrigg would probably be VoL and Edinburgh Uni if relegation is still a possibility.

Does anyone reckon they'll televise Brora v Kelty?  BBC Alba have shown the play off final in the past, not sure about the HL v LL games.

ALBA have never shown the League 2 PO Final before, but they should have the rights to 6 games a season (2 are the Champ PO Final and another 2 are the L1 PO Final) so they may well end up showing the final.

The L2 Playoff is 25% owned by each of organisations (the SPFL, SFA, HL and LL) so it could end up being broadcast on the SPFL or YouTube  something, which would be nice.

You really have a bee in your bonnet about this don’t you? It has been made clear that the goalposts were moved last week by the SFA, leading to a decision based on that information.

HL and LL Chairs both sat on working group on reconstruction with Colts.
SFA SPFL support Colts and will put forward proposal in coming weeks.

LL HL nominating Champions with SFA SPFL support means play off.
L2 clubs playing 2/3 games a week with part timers  will vote for reconstruction as don't want to face a fresh opponent in a play off

Job done for the Old Firm

I would prefer extended leagues but not with Colts but as always money talks.

Can you advise where you get your tinfoil hats from?

It is perhaps you that appears upset by someone merely asking for clarity which wasn't forthcoming until now (you claimed you didn't know).

It's now clear that an agreed process was in place at the start of the season to cover various outcomes. It appears to have been ignored.
