How do you differentiate professional?

LL are members of the professional game board, other leagues are on non professional game board.

Thanks there are games going on at all levels in England from school kids to the top.

Is it any wonder our national team is stuck where it is? It's enough to put you off the beautiful game altogether. 🤦‍♂️

Do we have a definitive list of what teams will and won't be streaming games this season?

Berwick, Bo'Ness, Bonnyrigg, BSC, Caley Braves, Shire, Kelty all confirmed as yes.

Cumbernauld, said they planned to stream their freindly tournament so hopefully that means they will stream games. Gala aren't streaming Saturdays game v Bonnyrigg so don't think they will do any. Gretna chairman made a statement saying hopefully the fans will be back soon to watch so doesn't seem like anything from them.

Nothing from Civil, Dalbeattie, EK, The Unis, Spartans or Vale?

Would be very disappointing if The Unis don't stream considering the resources they have and the ease it could be done. In all honesty though, its a shambles that teams aren't live streaming. Even a radio commentary would be better than nothing. They've had 7 months to prepare and set something up. The same teams will have the cheek to say that they are the 'centre of their communities' etc, this is a chance to show people that they are rather than leaving them to refresh twitter every few minutes on a Saturday afternoon.

Yes. The national team have underperformed because EoS games are called off for a two week period in the future in a unique set of circumstances we've never been in before.

In 10 years time Scotland fans will shake their fists and scream towards the sky "Why was Camelon vs Sauchie postponed in October 2020? WHYYYY!!!?"

😂😂 walked into that one and dont think explained it very well.

As I stated earlier the East had to get the go ahead as there are more teams members of the SFA than the LL.

It was more a rant that we are being left behind when the likes of our near neighbours in England are getting on wi it.

I just hope crowds are allowed  to return soon as fans find alternative things to do on a Saturday afternoon.

  • 4 weeks later...

Crowds return to Ross County, Inverness, Elgin, most HL etc. from this weekend: 300 limit, no away fans.

Having met tonight HL clubs will restart belatedly on November 28th contesting truncated 16-game program and certain cups (last season's LC ended last weekend).

The Highland League Management Committee met this evening and decided that the 2020-2021 Breedon Highland League will start on Saturday 28th November 2020. This is in keeping with its decision to pause the start of the season at a meeting on 28th September.

The decision also reflects improved prospects for spectators being admitted to matches. Many details have to be sorted out over the next three weeks, including a rveised fixture list.  The fixtures and other matchday arrangements will be published as soon as is feasible.

Scotland’s tiered coronavirus restriction system provides the Highland League with encouragement about the return of fans, according to division secretary Rod Houston.

The Highlands and Moray being placed in tier one means 11 clubs in the Highland League would be allowed to admit a limited number of supporters to grounds.

However, with Aberdeenshire being in tier two Inverurie Locos, Formartine United, Fraserburgh, Huntly, Turriff United and Deveronvale would not be allowed to let fans in.

The start of the 2020-21 Highland League campaign will not be before November 28, with the clubs’ stance being that they won’t start without fans.

The league could potentially request special dispensation to allow the Aberdeenshire clubs to let fans in like their counterparts in Moray and the Highlands.

Houston said: “Getting 11 clubs into tier one to allow spectators in has been very encouraging, but we know we have to do a little bit of work to see if we can get the six Aberdeenshire clubs to have spectators as well so everyone can start with spectators. “That’s a challenge we’re working our way through and at the league management committee meeting we’ll be able to take stock of things and have a better idea of what is possible. "We’re exploring options just now and we do have to be careful how we go about things and not lose sight of the fact there is a global pandemic going on. “If we were to ask for any form of dispensation we would need to have clear and credible reasons for that. “Getting a lot of young people out and being physically active, as they teams would be, and people getting a chance to go back to watching football I would argue makes a big contribution to the wellbeing agenda.”

The Highland League took the decision to delay the start of the new season until November 28 at the earliest on September 27, having previously been aiming for an October 17 start.

Tier 1 regulations seem to be 300 home fans. Ross County v Livingston last night was first such match.

Suspect it'll be 'ticketed' not PATG but that can be done relatively simply nowadays through online platforms - doesn't necessarily mean distributing physical tickets.

Looks like today was the first "cat among the pigeons" day of the season:
* EK win at Kelty at move top
* 'Shire beat Bonnyrigg
* Dalbeattie win convincingly at Stirling Uni
* Gretna thump Vale

Also top 5 seperated by only 4pts - with 3rd, 4th & 5th each having 1 game-in-hand - and Gala reach rareified heights of 6th with 2 of their next 3 games being Edinburgh Uni and Gretna.

Gala are on a good run of results at the minute. Might cause an upset for some of the "fancied" teams.

Turning out to be a great league so far, no guaranteed results.

Kelty of course have 2 games-in-hand courtesy their SPFL League Cup commitments - which could put them on say 17-20pts.

Pretty remarkable to consider that with slightly more than a quarter of the campaign complete there are effectively 7 teams within 3pts at the top.

There are not all games going on at all levels. From level 6 step 2 all games are banned under National lockdown. Info from a friend involved in Surrey.

Enjoying the season so far and being where we are is a large part in that. It’s a tough old league with clubs investing in players to match their ambition to climb out of the division and move up the pyramid.
If the pace of the first quarter continues throughout then it’s going to be one helluva season. Just hope we get shot of the lockdowns and get back to the terracing to enjoy it.

Good to see games going on in Scotland, hopefully when the English lockdown ends we can get back to watching games - and really hope the Scots can return, maybe with tickets presold and with fans being unable to travel miles - the more that test games go well in the spfl , (and Highland) without problems, then the better chance everyone has.
