Club Legends in 30 Games or Less

Recommended Posts

Lubomir Moravcik needed just two or three games. His debut against Dundee in a 6-1 win was the warm up for his performance against Rangers two weeks later when he scored two in a 5-1 win. Though I can't recall if he played in the 2-1 loss to St Johnstone in-between. But we'll gloss over that one..

Esmael Goncalves scored against Celtic 8 minutes onto his debut and we won a cup semi final. He also scored in the cup final on this 10th appearance.

Overall he played 16 games, scored 8 goals and won a cup.

Connor Newton also deserves a mention. His professional debut was in that Celtic game and only 10 games later, he scored the winner in a cup final. His career absolutely stalled after that despite most St. Mirren fans being more impressed by him than Paul Dummett who has gone on to have a very good career.

Certainly not a legend but given the criteria, I’d say Pedro Mendes fits the bill for us as a cult hero/icon type player.

Came up here and was a class act. Featured for us 50 times, winning a league title along the way. He never scored many for us but the ones he did were spectacular (that 25 yard screamer in a 4-2 humbling of Celtic being the highlight).

One of the silkiest players I’ve seen at Ibrox.

For Dons fans it must be Derek "Cup Tie" McKay.  A total of 19 appearances and 4 goals.  All of them in the Scottish Cup, including 2 in the 1970 final vs Celtic.

Was just about to post the very same [emoji106]

ETA: Marc de Clerck

2 games, 1 goal = 0.5 goals/game, no bad..........

I think most people have listed the obvious ones, two notables that we can add (neither playing for my club) ..

Dieter Van Tornhout, who scored Killie's winning Cup goal and only played a handful of games for them, and Marco Negri, who played a whole season but was in legendary form for half of it then just disappeared.

Just had a quick gander to see where he was, jinkies that lads career just seemed to slip away from him. I've got no idea of context, maybe he had injuries, maybe he just didn't have the ambition, but from Newcastle he just kept falling down the leagues to the point he's at Whickham.

Michael Moffat originally signed for Ayr in January 2011. Scored eleven goals in half a season, including the 88th-minute winner that won the first division playoffs. Had already been assigned permanent legend status for about a month by that point.

What a small club.

A million times this.

Yep, from his first kick of the ball, scoring against Dunfermline from a free kick,, to the absolute seethe he caused over the Pars and Dundee fans with his position as a paid consultant.

Does anyone else remember the graffiti that said something like, Derek McKay!  Games against Celtic 1, goals against Celtic 2 (I am oor young to remember the '70 final, didn't even set foot in Pittodrie till '75 I think).

Andy Webster. 26 games, captained us to the Scottish Cup and made Garry Kenneth look like a player.

No-one else can match that.

Andy Webster played 31 games in all comps 😏
