OFFICIAL HEARTS JUGGERNAUT THREAD 2020-

Recommended Posts

It shows the potential. We used to be one of the biggest clubs in Britain in terms of support. Times have changed and markets have changed too. If we were to have a run of previously unprecedented success (for the modern era) over the next ten years or so, then great things would be possible.

I fucking love Heart of Midlothian Football Club. I think about it way more than is healthy. ♥️😄

Fook me. We still have 6 weeks of listening how big and massive a club hearts are until the season starts too.

In all seriousness, has it ever been discussed how big Tynecastle could become before a new stadium was needed?

Often, yes. It’s a long boring narrative, and you need to decide right now, if you want to remain seated for the duration. 😬

Hearts' home support has been outstanding pretty much since Fireworks Phil gave that interview in 2005 when he said that basically if you wanted to watch Hearts, you were going to need a ST. Saw a thing today saying we've had the third-highest crowds for 15 of the last 16 years, and obviously often before that too.

Important Hearts harness this. The club is in a great position at the moment. But also important that we find a way to allow non-ST holders to get in enough to stay engaged with the club and bring their kids along etc. Not everyone can afford a ST, and that shouldn't mean you never get to see Hearts. I see Hearts are working on some ideas in regard to this, and I look forward to seeing them.

f**k your neighbouring residential amenity. Also f**k being able to see the penalty box from the second tier of the Roseburn apparently.

In seriousness, if we cement 3rd over the next 5 years and keep selling out tickets then an argument for expansion starts to stack up. The problem is you need about twice what we've spent on the main stand. Ideally you'd knock down the wheatfield and replace further back, dig down the pitch a couple of meters and add a few rows to the main stand front while widening the Roseburn and Gorgie which cannot be built higher.

God knows whether the distillery are willing to sell land and move the ethanol tanks. The whole area needs masterplanned with them moving to the edge of town somewhere.

This isn’t a dig at hearts btw but ‘consolidating 3rd’ doesn’t mean a linear progression in crowds, in fact it can almost work the opposite way.

There was a huge buzz with us in mcinnes’ first couple of years but after 4/5/6 years of consistent league finishes then people get bored and want something new. If hearts finished 3rd 5 times in a row but didn’t win a cup and didn’t progress in Europe then people get bored.

Essentially we need Aberdeen to sort themselves out to the extent that they provide meaningful competition but not to the point that  they actually overtake us

do you reckon you can deliver?
