OFFICIAL HEARTS JUGGERNAUT THREAD 2020-

He'll be pricey and probably a bit inconsistent, but there are two upsides for me.

1) He loves a goal against Hibs.

2) The comparison jokes with him looking like Joel Sked will never get stale.

It's also complete bollocks.  We will probably make 2 signings tops in this window.

Neilson started with the majority of his budget tied up in a shite, bloated squad and most of our summer business was focused on outgoings, so I don't hold him too accountable for the fact there's still plenty of work to be done. The Frear and Roberts signings are definitely on him, but I also doubt there was a wealth of good wingers floating around in a similar price range that would have been willing to play in the Scottish Championship, especially this season.

There's a line of thinking among some fans that whatever their club can afford to spend is the morally correct amount. Bigger clubs that can afford better players are overspending and "buying" their position. Presumably Dunfermline won't be signing anyone this window and, if they do, it won't be to buy a play-off spot.

Mackay-Steven is a good signing largely because he'll be useful next season as well and isn't just a short-term fix. We're winning this league with or without him. Having said that, if we've got GMS and Ginnelly both available then we'll be a very different attacking prospect compared to the last couple of months.

FTFY.

(we'll just ignore your downright abhorrent misuse of "too")

Arguably Neilson shouldn't have left it till January to finish assembling the squad, but given that it's about a 1/3 of the way through the season as opposed to half way it's not a crazy thing to do and we are 5 points clear at the top so he's basically  got away with it.

Hopefully GMS and the new number 9 will justify the wait.

@D.A.F.Cwas presumably appalled, disgusted and morally outraged when Dunfermline romped the 2015/16 first division with crowds as big as the next four teams combined after signing 13 players in the summer and then bringing in a couple of players  from the top flight in January.

https://www.heartsfc.co.uk/news/article/dunfermline-fixture-postponed

Hearts' Championship fixture at home to Dunfermline Athletic, scheduled for Tuesday January 12th, has been postponed.

Dunfermline were due to play Greenock Morton in the Scottish Cup on Saturday January 9th. This match has been postponed due to a frozen pitch and will now be played on Tuesday.

A new date for our clash with the Pars will be announced in due course.

The Jambos were also due to be in Scottish Cup action on Saturday but this fixture has also been postponed as freezing conditions have prevented the Camelon Juniors v Brora Rangers tie, the winner of which will face Hearts, from going ahead.

Robbie Neilson's men will return to action away to Alloa on Saturday January 16th.

Pish. Going to mean loads of midweek games for the foreseeable future. Add another if we go through in the cup as the Morton game will be rearranged.

 How many times have you said this now?

You really don't like him, do you?

It’s true I’ve said it a few times but I don’t dislike him just that he’s done it before with United and people mistake him for a genius who knows the championship when his side struggled most weeks and relied on individual brilliance rather than any great tactical nous.

Hes the Allan Johnson of the championship. I don’t dislike him just that hearts could have strolled the league with Robertson but spent half the money.

Hope we wasted the 500k phree munney on GMS us diddy leaguers received [emoji57]

One of the peculiarities of the MLS salary cap is that teams disclose their players individual salaries

In the case of GMS at NYC FC he was on the equivalent of £200K for 2019.

If hearts were to match that for two and a half years it would come to £500K

But that’s probably just a weird coincidence

Hardly surprising they paid off multiple support staff in the summer, even left handed batswoman Lee Anne has been emptied, JR must double up as the tea lady / kit man.

We moved on over 20 players in the summer, plus got Leveins 2 wages and Macphee off the books.  Hibs then spent transfer fees on players and brought in guys like Murphy.  I'd be amazed if our wage bill was more than theirs this season. Ours will have come down significantly.
