Freetown Christiania Documentray Feature Film

Recommended Posts

Went there for a look in February and found it dull as dishwater. Each to their own though and they don't seem to be doing anyone any harm.

There's signs up everywhere telling you not to take photos so not sure how you got away with filming a 57 minute documentary.

@ Marshmallo  There are signs all over Pusher Street telling you not to take photos or shoot video. If you ask nicely, preferably in Danish, and show some basic respect for the people there and don't look down your nose at them then they are actually very happy for you to shoot video there. The only imposition was that I had somebody looking into the viewfinder to see what I was pointed at. There is no restriction on shooting anywhere else in the community. The basic respect that you would deploy in a residential area is all you need and a propensity not to judge things and people at first sight.

The place would not look very inviting in winter, the Summer and late summer are fantastic. Maybe it seemed dull because you expected a tourist attraction which would entertain you just by walking through part of it.  It is not Disneyland.

Did you go to the musical theatre or the Greenland House or the Jazz club? All located in Pusher Street.
