Played out tropes in TV and Film

Binge-watching Frasier lately, and noticed this multiple times - a character is about to settle down to something they really want to do (eat a meal, enjoy a bath, shag a supermodel), and the doorbell unexpectedly rings. Rather than ignore it, like everyone would do in real life, the character feels they have to stop what they're doing and answer it, no matter how much it annoys them.

A follow on from that is when there is someone already there who has to hide in the bathroom, so the new visitor does not see them.  Once the door is answered, the new visitor immediately needs to use the bathroom.

As an add on to that, the person will hide behind a door and thankfully the new arrival will not open the for fully as to reveal the person behind it. Added points if it's an angry husband who thinks his Mrs is having it away with someone else but he'll just have a cursory glance into the bedroom before giving up the search

Also after the husband leaves, they say "the coast is clear" and then the doorbell rings again.

The troublesome foreigner who does not speak a word of English.  Complications with communications.  "Can anybody here speak Spanish, Italian, whatever?"

This continues for a while until the hero of the story loses patience.  "You speak English.  The entire Universe speaks English."  Sure enough, the troublesome foreigner speaks perfect English.

No translators needed after that.

That’s what Daphne is for, Shirley?

Kinda similar thing in The West Wing. Need to speak to an Indonesian diplomat but nobody speaks his type of Indonesian, so they get a chef who speaks that type of Indonesian and Portuguese but not English, fannying about for a bit before the diplomat says can we not just speak English.

Person A decided to conduct an illegal search of person B's house. They end up upstairs going through person B's office/home study. As they are going through the drawers, person B comes home. Leaving Person A to hide in a cupboard before escaping.

Movie characters stubbing out fags after a single draw. f**k that, have these c***s never seen the price of these things?

See also American cops out in patrol cars buying coffees and massive sandwiches, taking one bite then launching them because they get a call. Surely to f**k the non-driver at least could finish his en-route to the scene?

Attractive housewife has leaking sink. Handsome plumber arrives. sink doesn’t get fixed

I accidentally pressed rewind while watching a porno.

A guy used his cock to hoover a load of jizz off a woman's face, he broke her washing machine and then left.

This resulted in the Coens' greatest ever scene so I'm not complaining.

I saw it again last night on The Rookie.

Couple arrive in a restaurant.  The man orders for both of them demonstrating his fine taste in food and wine.

However one of them always leaves before the food arrives.

Understandable really.  Imagine if it took 10 takes to get the scenery recorded right.

young man fancies young woman who seemingly might well be similarly interested in him

An exciting but awkwardly nervous situation for single people in any culture but in India it’s apparently not just a case of summoning up the nerve to ask her out or swiping your phone.

Instead you need to perform a long and complicated song and dance routine with your mates and instead of simply choosing between “No!”, “Let’s do lunch on Thursday” or “Shut up and kiss me you fool” she and her mates have to have a routine all prepped and ready just in case

People in long foot chases who can run at full sprint speed for several minutes without slowing down or getting tired.

Middle / Long  distance world records would be destroyed if people could actually run like that.

Then when they stop they are barely out of breath or sweaty.

Once the chase is over just have a normal conversation and get on with whatever they were doing without needing a drink or a rest.

Tom Cruise  and the Bond Films are especially bad for this.

I think in the interests of "realism" and with a greater focus on continuity am finding the opposite to this;  the mildest form of exertion in one scene - a minor scuffle for example - is followed-up in the next scene by the characters involved gasping for breath as if they had just come out of a 200m sprint.
