Teams training

Piss poor post.

Our boys going on bikes together was wrong. Hands up. But managers taking training just now is wrong. People have lost loved ones to this virus. clubs that train shouldn’t fear the SFA. They should be more worried about a case against them for industrial manslaughter.

Any teams training now will be burned out and bored to tears by October.

Exactly. If you have them in just now and run them into the ground for a couple of weeks, you're going to need to do it again 6 weeks down the line before the season starts in October so the players are in peak condition for the kick off. I don't think players would be happy with essentially doing two preseasons.

If you're not running them hard just now, what's the point? Doing wee ball work drills etc is just going through the motions and players will get bored quickly when they have no games to look forward to.

Just let the players look after their own fitness just now and get them in 6-7 weeks before the season starts for a proper preseason.

Surely the purpose of training is to make the players better therefore it’s worthwhile having the players in just now. It seems quite old fashioned thinking that training is only used to get fit and prepare players for each game. A lot of these players will think they can get to a higher level so any advice/feedback from coaches just now is going to help them along the way.

Are teams at this level allowed to train together at the moment?

If you could work on shape and set pieces etc then yeah but not socially distanced training which means you can only run or do passing drills.

Cheers, every team is in the same boat. So why not follow the rules and only begin training when allowed.
You'd need to ask the clubs involved. I don't see any advantage to it at all, but plenty of negatives.

Total agree. Think a few clubs think they are above the rules.

Seems a bit strange as the season start is so long away players want a start date to aim for and ramp up there fitness etc to be peak for that time aimless training with no real goal etc can just breed the wrong mentality of just going through the motions however some of the players at this level might not have done any fitness work etc for months so could be doing with it

ps that is all hypothetical because they shouldn’t be training the now 🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
