Kirkintilloch Rob Roy 2020/21

Recommended Posts

A couple of friendlies played so far and apart from, 2 players carrying ankle injuries , every player has had game time. We have even managed to play one or two of our 20s development squad. Hopefully the good work continues this weekend against Caledonian Braves.

Friendly game today was very much a game of two halves. Rob Roy were excellent in the first half and it was very much against the run of play when we fell 1-0 behind.
As always in these games teams make a number of changes ( we made 8) and the flow of the game is disrupted. Fair to say Caledonian Braves were better than The Rabs in the 2nd half and ran out comfortable 4-0 winners. Good game for us to take against quality opposition.

2 Friendlies this week for The Rabs. First one is a game against Drumchapel United WOS on Wednesday evening at Dalziel.
Next up is the first game at Gartcairns newly relaid surface at Airdrie on Saturday.
As intimidated these games are closed to supporters and we ask that everyone respects this.
Tough tests for our young side and hopefully keeps the lads ticking over until we hopefully get a start date for the league to begin.

Well if they weren't listening you had to do something!

Good result tonight in our Friendly against Drumchapel United. A 5-1 victory and our most complete 90 mins in our pre season schedule so far.
Goals were scored by Robbie Leighton, Craig Truesdale and a thunderbolt of a free kick by Michael McCanespie to give us 3-0 lead at half time.
Drumchapel pulled a goal back in the early stages of the second half as Manager Stewart Maxwell made changes. One of the subs Jay McInally scored two goals on his first start to seal the victory. The team moves onto Saturday and another game away to Gartcairn.

Friendly Result.
Gartcairn 1-2 Rob Roy

Playing on a newly laid artificial surface The Rabs performed really well against an experienced side on Saturday in Airdrie. The young Rob Roy side fell behind in the first half but replied soon after with a goal from Scott Gold. Into the 2nd half and after coming on as a substitute Alex Cassells secured a win with a neat finish. Thanks to Gartcairn for the invite and it was good to see ex Rabs man JC Hutchinson in goals and who performed brilliantly for them.

October start for construction so the word is in the town now everything has been completely rubber stamped once started it wont be to long before its complete in comparison to how long the club have waited!

Over 4 million pound complex with council contributing and the club a sizeable amount through the final sale of adamslie park going through with the club operating and managing the complex.

Sure its not got the feel of old ground but being back in kirky and a stones throw from the old ground it will certainly feel like home in a good location.

The fundamentals are good for the club and perfect timing moving into this new era of non league football.

504 seated stand

50 VIP seats over other side with roof and wheelchair access,  two sets of toilets,  flood lights,  4g pitch,  food outlet,  hospitality,  managers room,  etc

On the park rebuilding with a new fresh young squad .

Good luck to the club

Think it’s a 250 stand to start with and the vip stand is phase 2 i may be wrong though. At last they can start building the club up again with new sponsorships etc for when football really returns with fans etc

Plans have never changed well online anyway.

Not sure of time difference on adding the phase two seating as you'd think given the money being spent it be easier to do it all in one go .

Phase one 252 seats main stand

Phase two 252 seats main stand

Phase one as in plans 50 VIP seated stand with wheelchair access.

As you say steering away from picking holes in the details main thing is back in the town hopefully can build things back up again as good potential at club.
