Stalin?  He was as much of the Left as Hitler was of the Right.  At some point left and right break down as being useful terms.  Both the Communists and the Nazis believed in state control of the economy and its commanding heights,  essentially transferring wealth into the military, arrogating all power to a self-appointed and immovable elite.   Although the Nazis privatized things, they made damn sure that those private companies were run by Nazis, and then eliminated small businesses so the state retained control.

It's whether this is a natural consequence of following a hardline dogma or whether they abandoned it entirely basically to ensure everything was in their personal control.  I'm damned if I know, the biggest purely socialist organizations on the planet seem to be kibbutzim.

Scottish fitba’ forum + c**t with a knife = the above post.

Only on P&B. Pwoud, vewy pwoud. 😀

I saw armed police hassling a busker on the High Street once. Think they gave up on it after a few weeks of getting laughed at.

Kim, the worst Busker in the history of busking, who faked his disappearance in the US?

I believe he did have quite a few sinister connections, the boys in blue were probably only concerned with trying to raise musical standards  in Inverness High St.

I was wondering that, could have been but you'd think he'd be ok with the cops after doing it so long. Can't remember.

Nonsense.

I can't believe people have taken this as a cue for another tedious politics debate.

People have died in horrific circumstances. It's not an appropriate time to discuss politics. We should be putting that aside and making tasteless jokes instead.

Still not confirmed anyone has died (apart from the stabby suspect). So still appropriate to discuss politics if ye ask me.

The SNP's response to how the COVID19 outbreak has negatively affected disabled people has been outstanding btw.

Wow. That's almost half as much as capitalism has this century.

I’m sure that the tally of 100 million is taken from the Black Book of Communism which on the methodology scale is usually regarded as less rigorous than the average Celtic fan’s estimate of the crowd in Seville.

I'm sure the puns will start once we know more about the victims and attacker's motive. 😄

I remember how I learned of Princess Diana's death, a pal rang me up and said, "Did you hear Princess Diana was on the radio last night..."

It basically lists every "non natural" death in any communist state. It's laughable.

To take deaths due to famine during the Great Leap Forward in China, for instance, there's no doubt there were huge mistakes made by the Maoists in moving to a centralised agricultural system (to say nothing of their ridiculous personal blast furnaces idea). Their ideas were based on a scientific ideal that has since been disproved and many people within communism went along with it blinded by the fact it fitted communism ideals. It was also during the worst period of natural disasters (first famine, then flood) in areas of China that meant even a "perfect" agricultural system would have led to deaths.

So did deaths occur due to a combination of poor agricultural practise and natural disasters? Were people who forwarded this bad practise blinded by ideology? Yes. Is it easy to blame that on just "communism"? Yes. Is that accurate? Of course not. Otherwise we need to blame every single death by famine outwith communism as a death by capitalism and those who use the Black Book as a basis are usually not keen on using that same methodology in reverse.

You claimed their base ideals were similar and that their actions make you as sick as the far right knuckle draggers.

You’ve backed this up by giving an example of some random punter feeling ‘forced’ to issue an apology video. If someone has complained about the circumstances you’ve described them that’s daft, but there are idiots on both sides who clearly take things too far, just so happens that the idiots on the right is every single person.

The far left and far right both have a lot of hate, the far left hate racists, bigots, homophobes and Tories. The far right hate minorities, Muslims and gays.

There is a massive, massive difference between the two sides, and any criticisms of the far left, of which you have several legitimate ones, should, in my opinion, be made in isolation and never in comparison to the far right who are genuinely abhorrent individuals to a man.

You c**t!

Fair enough points.

In my initial post, I suppose I might have worded it better but at least you can see the overall point I was framing. That some of the unsavoury tactics being used are genuinely shitty.

I mostly agree with your appraisal that all on the right are abhorrent. Certainly all in a position of any sort of authority are without exception. I do think a large number of those voting for them though are genuinely stupid. Dangerous as f**k with it, but textbook ignorant thickos.
