If the bit about only professional sport being allowed is true then starting on the 24th is gubbed. Would also throw the Challenge Cup into disarray as some teams might be ok to play bit not their opponents.

We'll see what the definition of professional is. In football you are either professional or amateur in registration status, so arguably everything except amateur and welfare is professional.

In Scottish football you are either covered by the professional or non professional game boards and that is what the SFA have used all the way through this to issue guidelines. Do you really expect them to change tack now?

Made the point last night that Ian Maxwell made the point about professional continuing and it looks like my fear were correct.

Pretty much word for word what was on this. "Central belt' classed as 5 health board areas, Greater Glasgow, Ayrshire and Arran, Lothian, Lanarkshire and Forth Valley. Restrictions to last from Friday 10th until Sunday 25th October.

They won't be taking view that if you play for enough for a packet of fags and a carry out every week you're 'professional'.
Game off across central belt surely for all outwith  SPFL Four at very least?
LL are classed as "professional" are they not? Tier 6 down non professional?

Stop talking pish

The player registration forms used are either professional or amateur. There is no distinction made between full-time and part-time status in that context. That's a separate issue related to the terms of the contract signed.

Hopefully the SFA have looked out for the interests of their members at tier 6 and below that have players on professional forms and that isn't the dividing line that gets applied. We'll find out soon enough

The SFA deem tier 5 and upwards to be professional, tier 6 and below non professional.

They may on this occasion (due to workplace mingling risks) limit it to those whose full-time job is football? That would make more sense than to say the amateurs of Edinburgh University or Civil Service Strollers are more entitled to play than the renumerated players of Linlithgow Rose.

So EKFC can play but EK Thistle is a no no.

Given that 'professional' players and teams are announcing positive COVID tests almost hourly I wonder whether a total ban was or might still be considered

There have been a total of 16 confirmed positive coronavirus tests across the entire Scottish Premiership since July - it's only "almost hourly" if an hour lasts about 200 times longer in your world.
