It’s getting close that a decision needs to be made to stick or twist. Nobody knows what way it’s going to go my club have already committed to a pitch maintenance programme and also bought new kit etc and with work being done it’s close on 8 grand. We can’t keep forking out with no light at the end of the tunnel. Some clubs will be better off and have budgets that can cover this but also chapping sponsors doors and you can’t get them to commit to the unknown some have been ok others are let’s wait and see . As hard as it is for everybody I think everybody needs to get round the table and decide one way or another. Some of the more financially backed might not be happy but we are now 6 month down the line from the new era and through no fault of the new league set up office bearers we are still playing a waiting game.

Rudderless ship nobody willing to make a proper decisive decision when anyone with half a brain can see the way this is going.

Protect clubs,  bin this season let clubs who want to continue training and playing friendlies with players who are willing to play for nothing to tick over and thats it.

Isn't rocket science.

Yeah sure the players will do that if no season contracts null and void better players will go elsewhere and play if they can step up which plenty could and then teams without money behind them will be no more

The games a bogey.

See you all next season.

Seems to be a general theme of desperation to “call the season”.

The world has changed, and for anything to run safety and effectively it has to change too.

It requires someone with a bit of nouse to move this forward.

I for one are desperate to get the game back, yes there is going to be changes. Yes it’s not going to be “the way it was” and yes some things are going to be more difficult but surely in the hierarchy of the league someone can get it going again!

The bottom line is key: no money at the gate = no income to pay players.
You also have the problem of convincing sponsors to part with their cash when there is nobody there to see their adverts in programmes or banners on the fence.

Also worth pointing out it's not just the gate money that would be missed, no raffles or programme sales would be a big dent in finances too.

We got got sent the same thing. Interim management team are up against it but not helped by asking what did they run prior to the leagues?  It will be for the clubs to provide leadership. Issue is if we get a vaccine by Christmas but have written the season off, then what happens until July? postponement would be the best imo

Vaccine by Christmas?

Not this year there ain't.

Delaying the inevitable.

Semi-pro football teams require income to meet their costs, particularly wages.
Zero or reduced crowds, sponshirship, pie hut revenue, social club income, hospitality, half time draws etc. will put enormous pressure on that.

Starting soon will do more harm than good and thats before factoring in the increase in covid and restrictions to players it brings.

If we are lucky we might get to start about April and cram some sort of season in.

Nailed it, incredible some want to stumble on blindly.

What if some clubs want to play and can afford to run with no fans highly highly doubtful but hypothetically could they run a mini type league and will clubs be punished in anyway if league is aloud to start when proposed but clubs can’t due to no fans and no income

Good point. I would imagine there is still a high % of players who would play for free to get the game going!

You would have to say amateur and kids football looks like it has a far greater chance of starting back at this point than the semi pros as it doesn't rely on matchday income from punters.

This could be the perfect time to just bin our current set up and look to move to summer football. A season that runs from March to September/November. Let the guys play in decent weather (for Scottish Standards) and when the pro season is finished surely you would attract more fans down if they aren't going to SPFL games?
